This is the sixth Jasher oneshot.
Asher becomes nervous about having a sleepover with Joshua, but it's also not easy for Joshua either.
Joshua had invited Asher over for a sleepover. It had made them both excited, yet nervous. Asher had never been to a sleepover before, so he was unsure of what to expect. He felt assured that at least he would get to hang out with his friend.
Joshua answered the door to Asher within a second of it knocking. They greeted each other with a bro handshake.
Joshua: Hey Asher!
Asher: Hi Joshua!
Joshua: Thanks for coming over.
Asher: That's fine.
Joshua: My parents are away for a couple of days, so I wanted someone to talk to.
Asher: Cool, but I'm a little nervous.
Joshua's heart sank, he believed that Asher didn't really wanted to be there. He needn't have worried.
Joshua: W-why?
Asher: I've never been to a sleepover before.
Joshua: Oh, well that makes two of us.
Asher: Okay.
Asher followed Joshua upstairs to Joshua's bedroom. As expected, it was clean an organised and Asher could see that Joshua took pride in appearance. It made him feel a little inferior, as his room tended to be a mess.
Asher: Wow, cool room dude.
Joshua: Thanks, I like it to look nice.
Asher: What shall we do?
Joshua: Wanna watch a movie?
Asher: That's good with me.
Joshua went downstairs to get popcorn and drinks, whilst Asher made himself comfortable as he sat down on Joshua's bed. When Joshua returned, he put the movie on and sat down next to Asher.
The entire movie, they kept laughing. It was great for both of them to hang out with their best friend, and it reminded them how lucky they were.
When it was over, it was nearly midnight, so they decided to go to bed. After they got changed, Joshua realised that there was a problem.
Joshua: I only have one bed.
Asher: That's okay, I can sleep on the floor.
Joshua: No, you sleep in my bed, I'll take the floor.
Asher: Are you sure?
Joshua: I insist.
Asher felt a bit guilty about taking the bed, but Joshua wouldn't let him do otherwise. Joshua turned out the light, before they said goodnight.
Asher: Night Josh.
Joshua: Goodnight Ash.
Suprisingly, the both managed to fall to sleep very quickly. However, all was not well with Joshua, who was stirring. He was having a really bad dream, and his screams woke Asher up. Gently, Asher shook Joshua's shoulder in order to wake him.
Joshua: Ahh!
Asher: Calm down, what's wrong?
Joshua quickly realised what was going on, and he felt embarrassed. He didn't want to freak out about anything around Asher.
Joshua: It's... I can't tell you.
Asher: If something's bothering you, please tell me.
They sat down on the bed, with Asher becoming increasingly concerned by Joshua's behaviour, he had never seen him this nervous before.
Joshua: I... had a bad dream.
Joshua had expected Asher to laugh, and call him silly. Instead, Asher put an arm around Joshua and held him lovingly.
Asher: It's okay dude, that happens to everyone.
Joshua: But I'm not a little kid anymore.
Asher: It happens to adult too, you know. They just don't talk about it.
Joshua: They don't?
Asher: No, so why don't you tell me about it?
Looking into Asher's eyes, Joshua saw that there was genuine care, so he felt confident enough to talk to his friend.
Joshua: I dreamt that everyone hated me. They chased me until I reached a dead end, and then they beat me up.
Asher: Now that, I can assure you, will never happen for real.
Joshua: How do you know that?
Asher: Because you are a great guy. If anyone chases you, it'll be for picture or autograph. No one wants to beat you up.
Joshua: I'm not sure about that.
Asher: Believe it, anyone who has a problem with you, will have a problem with me too.
It felt like a big relief to get everything off of Joshua's chest, so he relaxed and smiled at Asher, feeling grateful for the strong friendship they had.
Joshua: Sorry for waking you up.
Asher: Dude, it's fine.
Joshua: I'm glad you're here.
Asher: Me too. Why don't you sleep up on the bed with me? I'll protect you dude.
That took Joshua off guard. He wasn't sure if it was really a good idea, but he agreed to.
Joshua: Okay, but won't it be weird?
Asher: No, it's fine.
Asher moved over a bit so that there was room for Joshua. All of a sudden, Joshua felt safe, and it didn't feel weird at all.
Joshua: Night Asher.
Asher: Goodnight Joshua.
Just as they settled down, Asher wrapped an arm around Joshua again, and that's how they remained when they fell asleep. Asher had actually felt a better connection to Joshua, who in his opinion, was a very sound sleeper.
A little bit of a cheesy one this, but I thought it was worth doing.
Should I make a Part 2 to this?
