It Could Be Worse - Part 2

Jonah thinks about everything that happened. After breaking up with TJ, Cyrus decides that he should find out for sure how Jonah feels.

Whilst Cyrus and TJ were out of the room, Jonah spoke to the girls.

Jonah: I wish I was TJ.

Andi: I know, and I also know TJ really appreciates the fact you helped him.

Jonah: It doesn't stop it from hurting.

Buffy: I have to say I think Cyrus loves you.

Jonah: What makes you say that?

Buffy: He was so emotional when he saw you. It broke his heart.

Andi: He missed you and he hates that he ignored us.

Cyrus re-entered the room and had been very flustered about everything that was happening. Jonah spoke up first.

Jonah: W-where's TJ?

Cyrus: Oh, he went home.

Jonah: But why?

Cyrus: We weren't working out, so we broke up.

Andi: Sorry about that.

Buffy: I know you loved him.

The girls were pleased that Jonah and Cyrus were speaking, but there was still an important thing they hoped the boys would address.

Cyrus: I did, but I think I was deluded.

Jonah: How did you work that out?

Cyrus: I went out with him because I thought I...

Buffy tried to encourage Cyrus with a soft look, she knew what he wanted to say. Andi watched patiently as they continued.

Jonah: What?

Cyrus: I thought that... you would never feel the same way.

Jonah: Cy-guy...

Cyrus: JoJo, I can't stop thinking about you. Being with TJ was great, but I only ever truly wanted to be with you.

Jonah: I can't believe this happening in a hospital, but now is the time to tell you, that I've liked you ever since you nervously introduced yourself to me.

Andi and Buffy just stared at them, they felt anxious because they didn't think Cyrus or Jonah would ask one another out.

Cyrus: TJ looked really guilty when I spoke to him.

Jonah: Did he?

Cyrus: When he talked about you helping him to go out with me, he told me that he saw how sad you were.

Jonah: It's very true. I thought you would be happy, so I helped TJ because he was also happy. I figured if I couldn't go out with you, TJ was the best option.

Jonah patted the side of his bed, indicating for Cyrus to sit down. He had never felt so connected to Cyrus, and he didn't want to waste this opportunity.

Cyrus: Can I ask you something Jonah?

Jonah: *chuckles* you just did Cyrus, but sure!

Cyrus: Have you had a difficult time without me?

He wasn't sure if asking that question was the right thing to do, but he had to. He desperately needed to here the truth from Jonah.

Jonah: Yes, it was so tough.

Cyrus: Why?

Jonah: You're the only guy friend I've had who has never teased me or talked about me in a bad way.

Cyrus: I can't think why anyone would treat you like that.

Jonah: You'd be surprised.

Cyrus: I feel like a fool for not seeing how you felt.

Jonah: Don't worry about that, we've both been a bit blind.

The girls had remained quiet, not out of respect, but out of pure emotion. They had looked on with pride as the boys spoke, until Buffy interjected.

Buffy: Okay so you both like each other.

Andi: What happens now then?

Cyrus: I don't know.

Jonah: I know what I want.

Cyrus: And what would that be?

Jonah: I want to hang out with you, like we used to.

Cyrus: Oh...

With a slight pang in his heart, Cyrus thought that it was too good to be true. He didn't think Jonah would really want to be with him.

Jonah: Only this time, I want it to be as more than just friends.

All of his nerves disappeared as he looked at Jonah. Cyrus couldn't help the smirk on his face, feeling that he was finally going to be happy.

Cyrus: You want to go on a date sometime?

Jonah: Sure, but after I've recovered.

Cyrus: Cool!

Jonah: Cool!

Cyrus: But you know I'm going to have to look after you while you get better, right?

Jonah: I knew you'd say that, and that's fine with me.

Cyrus: I wish it was under nicer circumstances that I can say this, but... I really love you JoJo, like you wouldn't believe *cries softly*.

Jonah: I'm so glad we talked today. And I want the world to know that no matter what happens, I'll always love you Cy-guy *lightly sobbing*.

Andi: Are you finished being adorable yet? *chuckles*

Jonah: Nope!

Cyrus: Afraid not!

Andi: I've never seen either of you smile this much.

Buffy: It's so cute, but Jonah you must look after my Cyrus, he's like a brother to me.

Feeling the great sense of responsibility, the boys didn't take long to respond. Buffy was being serious, and they knew it. They were not scared of Buffy, if anything they appreciated the fact that she cared so much.

Jonah: You know I will, but he's actually my Cyrus now.

Cyrus: And I'll look after my Jonah.

Andi: Now that everything is sorted, we'll leave you to it.

Cyrus: Okay, bye!

Jonah: Bye girls.

As the girls left, Cyrus lay on the bed beside Jonah. It was just big enough for them, and for once, Cyrus felt like he would protect Jonah. As he nuzzled his head under Jonah's chin, the silence was broken by Jonah's whispering voice, which was soft, yet powerful.

Jonah: Cyrus?

Cyrus: Yes Jonah?

Jonah: I'm really lucky to have you with me.

Cyrus: Not at all, I'm the lucky one.

Jonah wasn't thinking about what anyone else would think. There was going to be a long road towards recovery, but he wasn't to upset. The situation had meant that Cyrus was back talking to his friends again, and to Jonah, that made everything worth it.

I really got into writing this, and it got so long that there will be a part 3.
