How Could You? - Part 1

Cyrus and Jonah are in a relationship, but tensions arise when a secret is discovered.

Jonah had been feeling so good about himself, seeing as he was with his dream boy, Cyrus. It was perfect for him, because they treated each other with love and respect, and had become the envy of all that knew of their relationship.

As he waited for Cyrus, Jonah realised that he was waiting longer than usual. They would go everywhere together, but today Cyrus was nowhere to be seen.

Jonah: Cyrus, where are you?

Before long, Jonah had to start walking without his boyfriend, for he would be late for school if he didn't. He was not happy, as he missed having Cyrus by his side. It was the only thing that made him forget his worries.

When he entered the school, he was taken off guard by a image that broke his heart into thousands of pieces. There, at the other end of the corridor, was Cyrus making out with TJ. It was the worst experience for Jonah, who ran over to them.

Jonah: Cyrus!

Cyrus: J-Jonah I can explain!

Jonah: How could you do this to me?

Cyrus: I-I, let me explain!

Jonah couldn't talk anymore, his breaths had sped up and he was freaking out. Tears fell freely down his cheeks. Andi and Buffy had followed Jonah and were just as surprised.

Andi: I don't believe what I'm seeing.

Buffy: Why did you do this Cyrus?

Cyrus: It just happened, I couldn't resist temptation and I wanted to see what it would be like.

Andi: That was more important to you than the fact you could break Jonah's heart?

Buffy: I've never been so disappointed in you, and I can't believe I'm saying that.

TJ: Look, it's my fault. I didn't realise Cyrus was going out with Jonah.

Buffy: Regardless, it still happened.

Andi: Come on, Jonah why don't you join Buffy and I today?

Jonah simply nodded before following the girls. Cyrus was speechless, he genuinely hadn't meant for it to happen, his temptations were to strong to control. It was TJ who confronted Cyrus.

TJ: So because of you, everyone is going to think I'm a jerk.

Cyrus: I know.

TJ: How could you do this to Jonah? Why did you not tell me he was your boyfriend.

Cyrus: Because...

The situation was only going to get worse and TJ felt awful about what had happened, even though he wasn't completely to blame.

TJ: If I were you, I'd start thinking about how to win Jonah back.

Cyrus: It's over, he'd never take me back.

TJ: If you explain properly, and without the crap, he may do.

Cyrus: I've never screwed up like this before.

TJ was at a loss, he didn't know what he should do. He felt really bad and wanted to say sorry to Jonah, even though he knew it would be rejected.

Meanwhile Jonah was sitting in between Andi and Buffy, who were comforting him. He had never felt such pain before.

Jonah: I guess I'm not good enough.

Buffy: That's not true.

Andi: Don't be so hard on yourself.

Jonah: I messed up my relationship with you.

Andi couldn't understand why Jonah would feel like that. It's not as if he could change how he felt.

Andi: That's different.

Jonah: How?

Andi: You like guys, so I get that you wouldn't be able to like me that way.

Buffy: It's okay, I'm sure things will get better.

They stayed silent for a minute or two, before TJ walked over to them. He knew it was probably not a good idea, but he couldn't let Jonah suffer.

TJ: Can I talk to you, please?

Buffy: I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Andi: It's a tough time.

TJ: Okay, you don't have to say anything, just hear me out, then I'll leave you alone, deal?

Jonah looked at TJ, who looked genuinely bad for what happened. He didn't know what to do, but then again, it wasn't as if anything TJ could say would make things worse.

Jonah: Deal.

TJ: I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have asked Cyrus if I could kiss him. I admit I thought it was nice, but I never knew you were dating him.

Jonah: It hurts, you know?

TJ: I can't undo what happened, but I think you should talk to Cyrus. He really does love you.

Jonah: He has a weird way of showing it.

Andi and Buffy could tell that TJ was being sincere, but it wasn't easy for them to forgive him. He was being very honest, and they respected him for that.

TJ: Even if you don't get back together, you should talk it out.

Jonah: Maybe I will, but not yet.

TJ: I hope that one day, you can forgive me for how I've acted.

Jonah: I appreciate you apologising, but it's a bit too soon.

TJ: I understand, and I'll stay away from Cyrus until you say I can talk to him again.

Jonah: Alright.

TJ left and felt a little better, but still awful for what had happened. Sure he and Jonah had argued in the past, but they were beyond that now.

Andi: I think TJ may have a point.

Buffy: I'm not so sure.

Jonah: Either way, I think I would like to have some time alone to think about everything.

Andi: We understand.

Buffy: But remember we're always here for you.

The girls each gave Jonah and hug before he left. Even though it was the start of the day, he didn't want to face anyone, so he skipped school.
