With every cracking boom Jellal gets more queasy. He tossed and turned in his bed trying to fall into slumber, but with the sound so loud and the lightning still visible through his curtain, he just couldn't. The rain hit heavy knocks on his windows, causing his eyebrows to furrow.

His eyelids were heavy but they were also becoming uncomfortable keeping them down. He opened his eyes with a sigh and stared at the white ceiling above him. He was exhausted from the long job he had with Erza, why couldn't he sleep?

If the inn wasn't so complicated by only letting one Twin XL sized bed for each room, he could've hugged her to sleep.

Erza

His mind went back to her name. Memories from the tower during their childhood.

Erza

The cell they were kept in was eerie, he remembered how she held onto him as the thunderous roar from the sky hit their ears. He remembered. He remebered how afraid she was.

Erza

Immediately he shot up straight from his bed and quickly walked out of his room to knock on her door. She didn't answer. Jellal wanted to assume she was asleep, but he needed his assurance that she was okay. Turning the doorknob, he instantly felt an attack flying towards him. He pushed the door wide open and spotted a flash of light becoming brighter and brighter as it got closer to his face. Quickly he dodged the sharp object and heard it hit straight into the wooden wall behind him.

"Who's there!" he heard her voice. Jellal turned to her bed expecting to see her face, but instead he saw her cover wriggled. Shutting the door, he walked over to her. Jellal pulled up her blanket and found her bent over, hugging her knees. And with another loud burst from the thunder, she squeezed her body down harder.

"Hey," he sat down beside her and pulled her close. The bed was too small for them to fit together but he scooched in anyway. When Erza felt his hand on her back, she quickly rose up from her position.

"Jellal!" she squeaked in surprise.

"You okay?"

"Yeah. . ." she replied before her body jolted from the thunder, pointing out her answer otherwise.

Smiling, he pulled her to his chest and rested his chin on her head, caressing her back. Taking up all the space as they lied down, he pulled the covers over their shoulders and kissed her forehead. Instead of squirming every time the thunder boomed, she fell asleep soundly. The reassurance of her safety in his arms was all she needed. And it seemed that her embrace was the solution to his sleeping issue.
