1 month later,
anna's birthday

i wake up in my bed to the sun beaming into my room. as i stretched, i went to my phone and checked my messages.

messages are all from my friends since it's my birthday today. i'm turning 17 finally. it's sad to know that junior year is almost over too.

once i'm done checking my messages, i go into the shower and decide to get ready for the day.

luckily, it's saturday so i don't have school and have to rush. once i'm out of the shower, i go to my room and get changed.

as i'm putting on my clothes, joey calls me. i answered the phone. "happy birthday, cross!" i hear him say into the phone.

"thank you, babe." i said.

"how does it feel to be 17 now? you get your licenses and well, you're 17!" he said with excitement.

i chuckled and started to brush my hair as i
looked into my vanity mirror. "i still feel the same."

"you don't feel just a little bit different?" he asked.

"no, but i just know that i have a whole other year left before i'm 18." i said.

he sighs, "i know." he changed the subject after that, "but hey, i have to go now. i'll talk to you later today and may or may not see you today."

"may not? bitch you will see me today." i said.

i heard him chuckled, "i have to go now. bye i love you."

i smiled, "i love you too."

he ended the call before i could. what does me mean may not? of course he will see me! it's my birthday.

after getting ready, i go downstairs to see mom cooking breakfast for mckenna and dylan with sam in the high chair.

mckenna sees me and gasps. "happy birthday!" she said, coming up to me and pulling me into a hug.

"thank you!" i hugged her back.

we sat down at the table as mom put the pancakes down for us to eat. she got sam out of his high chair and started to feed with with his bottle.

"i can't believe your 17, anna." she says softly smiling. "it feels like yesterday you were just 3 months old like sam."

i widened my eyes, "he's three months old!" i asked.

mckenna chuckled, "yeah and i'm three months pregnant."

"dang, everyone is having babies now." i laughed as i put a piece of pancake into my mouth.

dylan looked at mckenna. "what are you thinking about names, babe?" he asked.

"we'll find out the gender next month." she says, "until i know the gender then im deciding the name."

mckenna looked at my mom. "what's more easier, mrs cross? boys or girls?"

mom shrugged, "boys are more chill and less needy."

mckenna looked at dylan and smiled, "i want a boy!"

"don't get your hopes up now, kenna!" my mom says, "i wanted anna to be a boy but here i am."

"mom!" i said.

"what? i'm telling the truth!"

"awe!" mckenna said as she picked up a baby toy, "they will love this!"

we were shopping for baby clothes even though mckenna has a whole six more months to go until her baby is born.

i agreed with her. the toy was a little bear and played music if you touched its stomach. it kinda reminds me of the teddy bear that joey got me, well both of them. what did we name it? shithead after the vine? i can't remember but he said it was our child.

"yeah!" i looked over and saw a pacifier, "oh my gosh! what about this?" i asked her.

she looked at it and giggled, "oh yeah, i'm definitely getting that."

after we were in the baby section, we went to get some clothes for ourselves since spring is right around the corner.

i can't believe that just almost 7 months ago i moved here and now the year is almost over. and next year i'll be a senior and then off to college. heck! i don't even know what i wanna do with my my life after school.

what if i have a baby like mckenna? my mom was a teen mom and it's most likely that i'll be a teen mom. like, what if joey and i forget something? if i get pregnant, then my life will change forever.

me and joey havent done anything like that. the only thing we've done was kiss and thats it. and not for nothing, i don't know if i'm even ready yet. i don't even know when i'll be ready to be honest.

during the drive back home i look at mckenna as she drives. "was it scary when you found out you were having a baby?"

she makes a turn and shrugs, " i was more scared of the baby than myself." she says.

"in what way?" i asked.

"how my parents would react since i'm only 16. obviously they went extreme and kicked me out." she said as she sighed and gripped the steering wheel. "luckily, i had you last minute and here i am."

i chuckled and looked out the window." yeah, you do have me."
