part 53

(sorry this is so short. i wanted to tease you guys🤗)

he comes closer to me and sits down on the bed next to me. glad he's away enough from my reach or else i would loose my shit.

from his sweatshirt pocket, he pulls out a phone. it looked a lot like hunters phone. in fact, it is hunters phone.

"is that-" before i could finish, he tells me, "look at the text messages with lexi and him."

i slowly take the phone his hands and open it up. i go to the conversation between lexi and hunter.

lexi
"what time is the party?"

hunter
"9:00, but anna is coming at nine."

i actually came at 9:05 because jacob was taking his time and made us late, but okay buddy.

lexi
"then we'll both show up at 8:45."

hunter
"okay"

lexi
"you know the plan right?"

plan? what is this? a super hero movie?

hunter
"get anna to go away and then you kiss joey when she comes back."

my heart just fell out of my ass.

lexi
"good boy, see you at the party."

i turned off the phone and look at joey. this all makes sense now. hunter wanted me all to himself so he broke joey and i up. a rush of guilt and betrayal takes over me as i realized my mistake; not believing joey.

i could feel my eyes water out of realization as i look into joeys eyes. then pain that he must've went through, all because of me.

"i'm so sorry." i whispered, knowing now that i was one who messed up. i was one who didn't believe him. i was one who should be more heart broken then what he was.

he cups the side of my face with his hand and traces my jawline with his thumb. i wrap my arms around his torso, getting that feelings of protection in his arms.

his arms go around my back as he whispers, "it's okay baby, you didn't know."

i denied him immediately, "no." i said, "i was the one who messed up, joey. you don't need to go out of your way to make me feel like i'm a good person. i'm not."

he pulls away from the hug and furrowed his eye brows, "that's my job." he says, "im supposed to make you feel that way because i'm in love with you."
