"bro you're trash at basketball, jacob." joey said to jacob as we walked to the bus stop. "anna broke your ankles so hard."
i nudged jacobs shoulder and giggled as we approached the bus stop. "noob."
he smiles and looks down at his phone. "whatever, bully." he said, with a joking tone.
i playfully roll my eyes and put my hands in my sweatshirt pocket since i don't actually have a coat.
it's to cold for me to be on my phone, i don't know how jacob is just texting away in the weather like this.
my teeth shatter as the wind blows hard. this weather is another thing i have to get used to besides living with one lung.
joey looks at me shivering with my cheeks red. "are you okay?" he asked with concern in the time of his voice.
i slightly nodded. "yeah i'm just not used to this yet." i said as i could see my breath in the air.
"get used to what?" he asked.
"my lun-" i caught myself. "the weather. back in san francisco it was never cold like this."
"oh." he looks at my hands. "let me see your hands."
i arched a eyebrow. "why?"
a faint smile appears across his cheeks. "just give me them."
i take out my almost numb hands out from my pocket. joey takes my hands and puts them together. he brings them up to his lips and blows on them, warming them up a little.
i giggle at the feeling of his hot breath against my hands. "it tickles." i said.
"did they warm up a little?" he asked as he just holds my hands.
"yeah i guess so." i said.
he blows on them again making me laugh. he keeps my hands as his mouth and blows on them, while smirking.
"you're so weird, birlem." i said as i took my hands away because the bus was coming.
the bus stops in front of us and opens the door. he looks down at me. "don't cross me, cross."
i roll my eyes as i aboard the bus by going up the stairs with joey behind me. i sit in a seat and joey sits with me in it.
i put my book bag on the ground in front of me and pull out my phone. i watch as jacob sits in the seat behind joey and i.
joey puts his book bag on his lap and lays his arms on top, resting his head on his arms. he pulls up his hoodie and faces me and closes his eyes, like he's going back to sleep.
"why are you sleeping?" i asked him.
he didn't open his eyes when he answered my question. "because it's too early to be awake, cross."
i sighed and leaned back in the seat. "are you ever going to call me by my first name?" i asked.
he lifted his head from his arms and laid his head against my shoulder. "i doubt it."
i lay my head against his head, "then i'll call you joseph, joseph."
he smirked with his eyes closed. "okay, cross."
i playfully groan and close my eyes as the bus drives to the school. my body warms up a little as the weight of joeys head on my shoulder sits there.
joey sniffs and adjusts his head on my shoulder. "your shoulder is comfy." he said.
"thank you, i get that a lot." i said as the bus makes a turn, and me trying not to crush joey as it does.
"you do?" he asked,
"sarcasm," i said, "nobody complements my shoulders."
"except for me." he said, opening his eyes and looking up at me from my shoulder, while smirking.
i open my eyes and look down at him on my shoulder. i raise my arm and take my hand and squeeze his cheeks.
"except for you."
