i waited at the train station with my bags as i waited at the gate. i looked at my ticket for the 100th time, "new york city"
i've haven't been back at home in three years because i've been living with mckenna. after dylan and her broke up, i was a father figure to her son, thomas.
mckenna and i never dated, we were just really good friends. but, i've decided to go back to my home town
i looked up and saw the board, "new york city now seating."
i picked up my bag and started to walk onto the train. as i walked on the train, i looked around for my seat. after finding my seat, i put my bag down and sat in my seat.
i took out my phone and looked at the time, "8:31am" i realized its going to be a long three hours on this train.
i leaned my head onto the window and closed my eyes, letting sleep take over me as i did
+
"sir." i hear.
i fluttered my eyes open and looked up. it was a middle aged man looking down at me. "this is your stop i suppose." he says.
i sat up in the seat and looked around, realizing that i'm in new york now. "thank you." i said to him.
he nodded and walked off. i stretched and got up from my seat. i grabbed my bag before i walked out of the train.
the clucking of my bag wheels took over my ears as i though deep about what i was doing. is this right?
what if she's still here? what if anna is here?
i made a mistake leaving her, i should've stayed. i wonder how she's doing.
i sat down at a table and opened my phone to see text messages by mckenna.
mckenna
'are you there yet?'mckenna
"call me when you get there'i clicked on her contact and facetimed her as i waited for her to pick up. i watched the icon under her name turn into connecting.
"hey!" she says as she had a smile on her face.
"i'm here!" i chuckled.
"how is it?" she asked my as she tilted her head with a curious glance.
i looked around before looking back at my phone screen. "well i just got off. i'm still at the station. i think i'm gonna get something to eat before i go to my new apartment."
she nodded before turning her head and looking down. "say hi, tommy!" she giggled.
i saw tommy's face go onto the facetime call as he smiled. "hi jo jo!" he says with excitement. i cant believe he's almost four now.
"hey, kiddo." i chuckled.
"when will you be coming back?" he asked me.
"not for a while, but i'll visit you!" i smiled.
"okay, tommy." mckenna chuckled as she took back the phone. "just call me when you get to the apartment, okay?"
"got it." i said.
"bye." she says before she hung up.
i got up from my seat and walked over to a mini cafe that was in the station. it had little drinks that i only really wanted.
as i was walking to the cafe, my shoulder bumped into someone. "sorry." i mumbled.
"wait." they say, making their voice sound so familiar.
i looked up at the person and locked my eyes with theirs, most specially hers. "anna." i let out
"joey." she whispered.
