"do you have your deodorant!" mom yells from downstairs as i'm almost done packing.

"yeah!" i yelled back, giving her answer.

i zip up my luggage and grab my phone. as i'm grabbing my phone, i saw that picture of anna and i on my nightstand.

i haven't talked to her ever since we broke up. i still have her promise ring, it's on my finger with my promise ring.

even though our breakup wasn't mutual, i think it was for the best. i don't think we could've done a whole month without each other.

i'm still in love with her, i cried myself to sleep that night we broke up. it's going to be hard to get over her, i think about her 24/7. i don't even think i'll ever take off my promise ring.

i walked downstairs to see sophia with her bags. steve would be here in 5 minutes so we have to wait for him.

my mom comes in from the kitchen and frowns. she wrapped her arms around me and hugged me really tight. "i'm going to miss you so much." mom says

"jojo!" kashius yells, walking up to me. "uppie!" he says, motioning for me to pick him up.

i picked him up and bounced him. since kashius isn't stevens kid, he didn't get custody of kashius.

kashius deserves a father though, dylan is never around. he's usually at bars or away on business trips.

{i know that dylan is mckenna's bf but joeys stepdad is also named dylan}

i want what's best for kashius, he's my brother.

we hear a beep outside, guessing it's steven. sophia gets up and sighs, "i don't want to go." she says.

my mom wrapped her arms around the four of us, wishing we could hug forever. "don't forget about me okay?" mom says.

"trust me mom, i'm gonna call you all the time." sophia chuckled.

"you better." mom chuckled also. she looked at me and sighed, "be good okay. and hey, where's anna?"

i handed kashius to mom and got my bag. i looked down, "we broke up." i say. it's like killing me every time i day or think of it.

she gasps and pats my back, "i'm so sorry, joey. i really liked her."

"me too." i said. don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.

steven beeped again outside. mom opens the door and watches us walk down the front porch.

"love you both more than you'll ever know!" she says, tearing up a little bit.

as i was putting my bags in the car, anna garage door opens. i saw anna in her pjs walking out to get the trash.

i sighed and got into the car, not forgetting to get in the back seat.

"isn't that you're girlfriend?" asked steven.

anna and i made eye contact for about 5 seconds before she looks away. "no." i said.

steven chuckled and started the car after sophia got in. "told ya." he says.

what an asshole.

as we were driving away, i looked back to see anna watching the car leave. i just stared at her as she watched it before i turned the corner.

i turn back around and lean back in the seat, resting my head against my hand as it leans on the door handle.

in my back pocket, i felt my phone buzz. i pulled it out and realized i got a text message.

sophia:
what happened w u 2?

me :
we just broke up. it was for the best.

sophia:
sorry to hear that:(

me:
it's fine.

i don't know why she texted me when she could've just talked to me since we're right next to each other, but okay.

this is going to be the worst month of my life.
