I'm pretty sure that last night was the best sleep I had in forever. I woke up feeling lighter , as if one of the heavy weights on my chest had fallen off. But today was Jamie's day off and we had a meet up.
I washed my face, brushed my teeth and went down for breakfast. I saw him sitting at the head of the table with a coffee mug in his hand, almost as if lost in thought.
I walked up to him and kissed him on the cheek, blushing as I did as I mumbled 'good morning'. It was a little weird but it felt kinda nice. He smiled and said it back while I went to pour myself a cup.
I thought carefully about the words I would say before I opened my mouth.
"So...Jamie wants to have a girl's night at her club. She said you could tag along as long as you stay out of the way."
Yikes! That sounded mean.
"Wait, she didn't mean it like that! More like, we need bonding time and the guys can come because she knows you're protective but you can't be visible."
As if that was much better.
I mentally rolled my eyes at my inability to be clear about Jamie's intentions. "Sorry, lemme rephrase that..."
"Jamie allowed us to come along to sate our need to be around you and protect you but we need to keep a distance from the festivities lest we spoil it with our masculinity." He cut me off smirking.
Yeah, that was pretty much it.
He chuckled at my flustered expression for a few seconds before speaking again.
"You don't have to try and explain things like that, Princess. I am your mate and although I can't hear your thoughts, I am attuned to your emotions now that you've accepted the bond. If I ever needed you to clarify something, I will ask or you can read my emotions to know that I am confused. Like I said," he said while caressing my cheek with his thumb, " this doesn't have to be like walking on eggshells." He said before he leaned in and stopping just an inch away from my lips.
For a second I froze, and my mind raced with a million different thoughts. But one stood out.
I think I'm in love with him.
He stopped in consideration since I was a bit shy. But I felt the need to let him know just how I felt. I leaned in the rest of the way.
As our lips touched, I felt electricity all over my body, speeding up my heart beat and making my blood rush. And we stayed that way till we heard a car pull up.

I wanted to open the door but Nox wasn't having it. He beat me to the door and opened it, standing with his arms crossed looking as intimidating as possible, but I managed to peek from the window and saw Jamie climbing out of her black hatchback.I walked out to meet her while he stood guard. When I stepped out, she shrieked.
"How did you do that?!!"
I look at her confused. "What do you mean?"
"You just appeared out of nowhere!" She shook her head.
I tilted my head sideways and stared at her still confused. She grabbed her phone and took a picture before showing it to me.
There was nothing there. The house was gone, almost as if it disappeared into thin air. But when I looked back, I could see Nox standing on the front porch, watching.
"How is that possible? You don't see him standing there?" I asked bewildered.
She shook her head. I quickly grabbed her hand and rushed to the house. She stumbled a little when she came close but then her eyes widened in shock.
"Whoa..."
She looked at me and the house a few times as if to make sure that we are both there.
"How is this possible? It wasn't there a few feet back!"
I shrugged as I continued to pull her to the house.
"It must be a shield that has glamour." Nox said softly, hearing everything.
Over the past 6 days, I have started to remember the little details of my past. One of which was the powers my siblings had.
Shields (air walls) were Lavinia's thing whereas the glamour was one of Jason's talents. It must've been set up when we first got here to hide our presence from the hunters, which also included mortals. I'm guessing that's why my parents had strict rules about friends coming over.
I explained everything to Jamie as we walked inside. She kept talking about how amazed she was by the house. We sat down at the kitchen table and discussed the reason of her visit.
"I know you wouldn't pop in just to say hi, so what's up?" I asked, not missing how Nox, who had sat down beside me was slowly inching towards me.
"Well, I know you haven't been around in a while so I'm taking you clothes shopping for something age appropriate."
I was almost offended. My clothes looked ok to me. And almost as if she heard my thoughts, she rolled her eyes.
"Look you don't have to wear frumpy clothes anymore. In the five years you've been gone, curves have slowly become mainstream." She takes out her phone to show me pictures on the internet of "thicc" girls. I had to admit that they looked amazing.
"You've got a great shape and the mall has everything to make you look like a 23 year old woman in her prime, rather than a sad nanny." She raised her eyebrows as if to will me to agree with her. And sadly, it worked.
She waited outside while I changed and talked to Nox.
"How do you feel about this?" I asked while grabbing a pair of shorts.
"I think it's a good idea." He smirked.
"Hmm...I thought Alphas were so overprotective and territorial that they never let their mates get dolled up."
He laughed a little while I slid on the shorts and tied my hair up.
"Not me. I'm happy to let you dress up in whatever makes you feel comfortable and beautiful." He walks up behind me and buries his nose in my neck while
wrapping his arms around my waist. "And it shows everyone else that I have a drop dead gorgeous mate, they can look but they would never dare touch."His words, the hot breath on my neck, and the vibrations he sent across my skin was almost enough to weaken my knees. I reached up and touched his face, turning so that our noses were almost touching.
Right before I can kiss him, I heard the car horn. "Guys let's go! It's almost lunch time and I'm hungry!"
We laughed, our cheeks pressed together as we looked out the window. I turned quickly and gave him another peck before grabbing my phone and sneakers.
"Come on! Let's go shopping!"
