Hey gang
If you added this book to your library, then I'm sorry for constantly updating past chapters. A lot of the times, as I'm writing a new chapter I'd remember a detail I left out that would be vital to the new chapter or some clarification that would make the new chapter more understandable. So I'm sorry in advance and yes, I'm sorta of a perfectionist so I will reread the story after every update and fix mistakes on the spot.

Life's still hard out here for a girl but you just gotta grin and bear it. As long as you're breathing, there's a chance for something better. Toodle loo!!

He growled before sending the man standing next to him off. They stood there for a while and Kiara slowly lifted a hand to her face. Wincing as she touched the welt. She heard her protector growl but for some reason she couldn't feel his dominance. It had always made her feel protected. Like a cocoon of warmth and safety.

She had thoughts racing back and forth as he heard the jerk who slapped her call him an alpha. Her mother's words rung in her head about the alpha she stood with in the war. Why was an alpha protecting her?

She also thought about the guy who slapped her and why he slapped her. All because she wouldn't stroke his ego. She mentally rolled her eyes.

A few minutes earlier...

When I woke up again, I was tied to a chair and facing another man. He looked like he was on steroids as his upper body looked jacked and his lower body looked scrawny. Almost like an old time cartoon where the muscle men wore leotards and had the shape of a dorito.

I looked him up and down before letting out a disappointed sigh. He had nothing on my "boyfriend". Eric was packing in all the right areas. His muscles were evenly distributed and worked well for his tall frame. And his aura was stronger than whoever was standing in front of me.

This guy had it rolling off of him in waves but it was really weak. Like watered down coffee. Thinking of coffee made me hungry.

I scoffed at him trying to intimidate me.

"That whole macho thing isn't working buddy. Try another chick to scare, sted."

Once he heard that, he snapped.
"You're lucky you're useful. Otherwise, you'd be chained up and whipped."

I rolled my eyes. "Ooh, I'm scared. And it seems that someone is a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey."

He slapped my face. I spat at him and he slapped me again.

Stupid mutt.

I couldn't wait till Eric got here. He would take this jerk down

Present moment...

I looked at Eric as we stood there. His face was stone cold, but he was an open book to me. His eyes burned with rage and the moment they landed on me, they softened. His eyebrow twitched almost as if questioning whether I was okay. I tried to smile but my cheek hurt. I winced and touched it out of instinct. That was going to leave a bruise. That steroid filled a-hole had a big and heavy hand. It hurt but not as much as knowing that his mate would endure the twisted 50 Shades fantasies he has.

That thought brought amusement to me. Eric noticed the laughter in my eyes and shook his head. Almost as if scolding me for having fun in a serious moment. But knowing me, I laugh at the most inappropriate times. So I chuckle.

The douchebag looked at me. "What are you laughing at?" He snapped. His face turned red as I laughed louder. I couldn't stop myself. I was scared out of my mind, about to pee on myself, hungry since dawn was breaking and all I could think of was how horrible my luck was. Whoever the Fates were, they had it out for me.
