The wind blew around us, no doubt one of Nia's wind friends bringing her news about the enemy that was marching towards us. The wind spirits always have flower petals or leaves floating around it. Nia knows each one of them and alwayas acknowledges them meanwhile I try not to be disrespectful to them since they were ancient spirits. They were here before our ancestors were created, and they would be here eons after my name is forgotten from the world.

Nia turned to me with a determined look on her face. "The East Wind says that there are at least 900 on their way here with 300 or so in hiding."

I nodded as I turned back to Nox. His face wasn't dark or brooding like I expected...he was actually smiling. His beast was itching for fight and not only that, it was itching to spill the blood of his enemy. After the pack bonded with him, they were all under his leadership, he was the head and the father of this pack.

But to be frank, based on what Jamie told me, I dont think Lycans really need big numbers. This pack has more than enough strength to flatten out the invaders with half the people we have now, but everyone is here for revenge. The challenge could be over in the blink of an eye but from what I know about lycans, they will prolong it to see their enemy suffer. Their sense of justice was twisted but it was absolute. You mess with a lycan, you will not live for much longer.

I felt around the emotions of the pack. Since they are newly phased, they were more beast than man but years of being half wolf has made it easier for them to control their savage need to lay waste. This was a proper challenge, we needed to respect the rules of it and act accordingly.

The law of the seven dictated that the two opponents must fight till the death, the golden rule of domination is part of werewolf history. The end of it, the losing pack will submit to the victors, but if a rebellion happens, the pack left standing after the battle will take over the other pack.

Before the phase, Nox had made them practise concealing their aura. They were able to reign their beasts in, but the difference in their power was still noticeable. That's where Jamie and I came in. We helped conceal their prowess even further, making them appear like regular human. But the feral look in their eyes, that was harder to hide.

"What do you think, my love?" his voice broke my train of thought.

I looked at him again. Taking in the sight of my mate, his irises turning black and shining like a dark mirror. "I think I would like a coat made of wolf fur." I smiled deviously. His anger and need for bloodshed was mine. We were tied together, bound under the will of the moon and the fates. Where he goes, I go. His battles are my battles. His enemies are my enemies. This was how the mating affected two supernaturals.

The growls and snarls of the approaching enemy, reached us. We could see their army marching towards us, the warriors were in their wolf form but the Alphas and Betas were walking in their skin, leading the invaders. I could feel the hatred and indignation rising in my chest. I looked at my mate and saw his eyes turning black. I held his hand, willing him to stay calm. It seemed to do the trick.

My sister, the Betas, Jamie and Rue came up to us on the little hill where we stood. Everyone here was ready to fight.

"Lets get this over with."

The smirks on their ugly faces looked like it was stuck on with glue. Especially the little dorito shaped man.

Jamie stood in between them, a referee of sorts. She was dressed in a white robe with a hood, looking every bit the moon representative. She held up a hand and the two sides fell silent. Even though she wasn't a wolf, her power made all creatures of the moon fall in line. The Alpha looked surprised but said nothing as his face went back into its usual smirk.
