We stayed like that for a few minutes. Talking about life. I told him of my years in high school while he told me all about growing up in a pack. They sounded lovely. A large family working to look after each other and make the whole pack thrive. It was basically 20 questions.

We talked till my tummy started growling for food, much to my embarrassment and his amusement.

I stood up, feeling as if one of the weights that hung around my neck had fallen off. It was nice to have someone like this. Looking inside, I knew I had my own back. My being was one with me. As if it was a different entity, or maybe it was my essence, we knew we had to work together to get through this. This man was going to be my equal and should never step over that, because at the end of the day, I had to have my own back.

But it was still nice to have someone to yourself that you'll never have to worry about being unfaithful or leaving you for not being enough. I was half the woman I was, but he still looked at me like I was precious and I might be crazy, but I feel like I felt his emotions.

I've been noticing lately that whenever I'm in the same room with someone else, I begin to feel what they feel as if those feeling are my own. I turned to Eric...err...Lenox

"So...Lenox...Alpha? Alpha Lenox? What do I call you?"

He chuckled at me. "You used to call me Nox."

I grinned. I'm always making three letter nicknames for people so it kinda makes sense. "So Nox...what were some of the abilities I used to have?"

He turned thoughtful for a minute. "Well, you obviously have control over all forms of water. And you never told me this but I have long suspected, you have power over emotions."

I looked at him wearily. "In what way?"

"You always have this aura around you that is naturally calming to everyone you meet. Your older brother always had to have you by his side when meeting with allies. And you always seem to know what to say."

I pondered over his words for a minute as he opened the door to lead us to their food source. "Strong emotions seem to affect me whenever I'm in a room with the person feeling it. Jamie's anger, my parents sadness, your...never mind. But yes, I think that maybe true. Do you have any theories as to why?"

He grabbed my hand as he followed his nose to the kitchen. "When the Divines creates us, they used the four elements to create humans. Mages are just magical humans therefore I believe that the Water goddess, who's power flows through the heart, gives you the power over it."

It took me a hot second to understand it. "So let me get this straight...the water goddess' essence turned water to blood for the human body. And because it passes through the heart, and I've been given a fraction of the Divines power, I have powers over the heart?"

"Pretty much."

When we reached the end of the hallway and descended the stairs to the foyer. It was big to say the least. With chessboard style tiles and cool white and grey walls. I was dragged along to the kitchen where I saw Julia stirring something in a pot.

It smelt heavenly but then again, when you're hungry, anything closely resembling food will make your mouth water. I mean, I haven't eaten since the gigantic breakfast when I woke up in Alaktasia.

"I hope you're hungry! I made some tomato soup and the grilled cheese sandwiches are about done." She called out over her shoulder. I nodded then dealing she couldn't see me said thank you. But not before my stomach growled again. The two wolves laughed before Nox sat down and Julia turned the cooking element off.

He took my hand in his beneath the grey counter as she started dishing the food. Needless to say, there wasn't much conversation as we dug into the meal. I think I might have had more than 3 serves but who's counting? I certainly wasn't.

When we finished up, I volunteered to wash the dishes.

After washing up we all moved to the porch right outside the kitchen. The sun was shining so we decided to relax for a bit.

"You know Kia, I always knew you were going to be a Luna." Julia said quietly.

I looked at her confused. "What do you mean? I didn't even know supernaturals were real! How did you know?"

She smiled. "When I first found Chad, my senses heightened. I had a sixth sense around people. I could tell a person by their aura. Yours was pure and brilliant. I sensed untapped power in you and a fierce need to protect you. That's what Lunas do. We can sense people and our beasts are immediately bonded to other like minded Luna's. I felt such kinship to you."

I stared at her in awe. She was always there for me and my friends during high school. But she did gravitate to me more than the other two. A little bit with Erica but we were much closer.

She shook her head wistfully. "I just thought that you'd be mates to another Alpha here. But now that I think of it, I felt more of a loyalty to you than I did friendship. Now I know that it's because you are the rightful Luna to the original wolves."

Nox smiled at me while I looked terrified. "What's wrong?" He asked concerned. I didn't want to hurt his feelings with what I was about to say so I asked if he could give me a minute alone with Julia. His eyes looked pained but he nodded as he kissed my forehead and walked towards the clearing.

"I don't know the first thing about being a Luna! I don't know if I can do it."

Julia nodded. "I was like that at first. I was the Beta's daughter. I knew how to fight and be a warrior but a Luna was more than that. I was afraid I wouldn't measure up."

I looked at her in panic. "How did you get through it?"

She looked back me with a ghost of pain in her smile. "I haven't completely if I'm honest. Some days I worry that I'm not good enough to be a Luna. Chad's mother was amazing at it. She was kind and fierce and strong and more than capable. But she left shoes too big to fill. Sometimes I'm worried that I'll never measure up."

She looked me in the eyes as she smiled. "But there's one thing I do know. I love Chad and I believe in him. He is the rightful Alpha and I am his moon fated mate. I wouldn't have been paired with him if I didn't have the capacity to be a good Luna. And on most days it's enough to convince me to go on. So I try my best and hope that the pack is proud of me." Tears slowly trickling down her face.

I smiled warmly. "I think that's what makes you a good Luna. You are always there for those that others look down on. You fight for what's right. You protect and defend the innocent and you are kind as you are gracious. You are an excellent Luna. I don't think you should try to fill your mother in law's shoes, you don't live in her shadow. You are capable of making your own way." I said with pride as I wiped the tears from her face.

Her smile was one of pure joy. "Spoken like a true Alpha Female. Thank you Kia, you don't know how much those words mean to me."

We hugged for a bit when she tensed up a little and chuckled. "Alright alright! You can have her back now."

Werewolf hearing.

I chuckled as I looked to see him walking our way and sitting beside me. Looking at my face to see if there was a hint of anything wrong but I was happy. And he smiled as he squeezed my hand. I'll never know how he reads my mind just from my eyes.

I heard footsteps coming from the foyer.

Julia smiled, "and it looks like our Beta Female is here."

I stood up to greet her but the face stopped me.

"Erica!?"
