"What?!" I rushed over to see. I grabbed her hand and she winced a little bit there were no bruises.

"It's still a bit tender but it's not as painful as before."

Erica stood there with wide eyes. She hasn't said a word in all this but I could almost see guilt in her eyes. It confused me but we had bigger things to deal with.

We all started making our way back to the office. Jamie looked at Eric and mumbled "I'm sorry" before returning to her seat.

Erica stood in the corner lost in her thoughts.

I sat down next to Eric and we all stayed quiet. I suddenly felt him grab my hand, I knew right away that I'd been tapping my fingers again and with his super hearing, it must've annoyed him. I whispered "Sorry." But he never let my hand go.

After a few minutes, Erica broke the silence. "So it's all true. All of it." Still coming to terms with it.

"It is."

Jamie eyed me and Eric's joined hands before looking into my eyes. "So you're just here to say goodbye and then you'll be going back?"

I didn't miss the sadness that dropped into her voice.

I looked away. This was harder than I thought it was going to be. I was about to speak up but Eric beat me to it.

"We might be able to spend sometime here since time will move slower back home."

Erica and Jamie looked at each other before smiling.

"We'd love to have you for as long as you can stay. But please..." Erica spoke up again.

"Make sure you say good bye before you leave."

I smiled and nodded. "Of course!" That's what I came here to do.

We spent the next few minutes catching up. I found out that Erica had graduated High school and Med School. She was now a doctor at a private hospital not too far from town and dating the guy who helps the dude who owns the land it's on. Jamie, graduated and took business studies. She got a loan after she finished studying and turned the old library into a club. She was doing quite well. I was so happy that my friends had found their place in this life.

"So Jamie...I gotta know," I said as serious as I could. "A stripper pole in our spot?"

They both burst out laughing.

"Well, you'd always be dancing around here and I remember recommending you to be a stripper so yes. A stripper pole in your honour."

That set off another round of laughter.

"I don't know whether I should be honoured or offended." I snickered.

She smiled. "Honoured. Do you know how much strippers make? And after Cardi B stepped on the scene, strippers aren't seen as trashy anymore around here. They are respectable women, confident in their body and dancing to make a living."

I nodded. "Cardi B?"

They shook their heads dramatically while sighing and tutting. "Oh child, we have a lot to fill in for you."
