Jamie POV (flashback)
Ever since I accepted the gift from the moon, I have started feeling an overwhelming closeness to the werewolves. I guess they are her children therefore since I had a portion of her power, they were mine too? Nope, scratch that! I'm not ready to be a mom...but maybe a big sister.
Yeah! Big sis worked for me. They were all my younger siblings and I had the urge to look after them. I held on tight to Erica as she cried. And I felt it. The pain of the wolves was my pain. It was like losing a sister, even though I never really knew Julia and Chad that well, they were always around to help. Not only that but with my new bond to the moon, I felt like I lost a piece of my heart and a different part was hurting. I cried with her, held her tight and tried hard to be strong.
KiKi came by to tell us that she was going home to get Nox rested and that she would be back in the morning for the funeral. My heart ached for my friend. I knew how important mate bonds were (thanks to lessons from the great ball of light in the night sky) especially to wolves...her emotions were all over the place. I hugged her before she left then helped Erica into the house.
The overwhelming grief and sadness almost made me want to curl up into a ball but instead, I focused my power. My energy source was the mother of wolves, I can heal and comfort them the way a mother can...or big sis can...big sisters can do things too when the mum is gone.
So I focused my aura in my chest, then let it spread like gentle waves all over the packhouse...slowly making its way outside. The howling and tears calmed down a bit and there was resolve on their faces to clean up for the funeral. They were focused on getting their Alpha and Luna the send-off they deserve.

"Missy, you should go to sleep." I turned to my friend who was turned towards the wall. It was nearly 10 pm and she needed rest since she and Mason would be in charge of the funeral tomorrow. Mason was out doing alpha and beta duties so he would not be back until later.
She just sniffled. I understood her pain. So I left her in the room to look for water. She had been crying all night and refused to eat. That's when it happened.
I was summoned by the moon goddess.
"Jamie Simmons."
I looked to the moon and instantly I was taken to the dark realm. It had been happening for the past few nights. She always summoned me to practise in the realm of darkness. I had to learn the divine language, how to protect myself and fight using moon magic. It took up so much of my time that I had to give Sebastian a promotion.
He was now the acting manager at The Library because my nights were spent in training. I had to come up with a lie but I couldn't brazenly lie to Seb. So I just told him that I was taking a few weeks off to figure stuff out. Not a complete lie but not the complete truth, but I don't think that he would get it if I tried to explain.
Since travelling to the night realm would make it difficult to return to the same year I left, she decided that the realm of darkness would better suit. It also gave me plenty of opportunities to fight the creatures of the dark.
"You called?" She was standing right in front of me with a tearful look on her face. I knew by instinct that she was mourning the loss of her children.
"Yes. Another wolf is in trouble and you need to intervene." her voice was tight with pain as shimmery tears fell down her pale face.
"Who?"
