The day went on as normally as it could from there on out. We wondered what the signs meant and when they would come to pass, but after everyone had a taste of the big breakfast Jamie had made, all the tension melted away.
The two mated wolves couldn't keep their hands off of each other, so much so that Erica ended up eating breakfast, sitting on Mason's lap. There was nothing sexual about it, but it was intimate. Erica had tied her hair up and I saw the mark on her neck.
Her mark. And Mason had a matching one.
It was a bite. When Wolves mated and marked each other they put their marks on each other's necks. It changes their smell, and is a sign to other wolves that they are taken. I smiled yet I felt a pang of sadness, absentmindedly I rubbed my neck where my mark used to be.
He noticed and he gave me a sad smile. Although our bond is coming back and my memories where there, there was something that must've stopped my mark from coming back. The only reasons why marks would fade or go away was either the bond was rejected where the bond would die or one mate died.
His eyes looked clouded over and shrouded in guilt. Nuzzling his neck, I whispered that it would be okay. The bond was so weak when I was injured that it lies dormant. We'd have to mate and mark each other again before the bond is fully restored.
"Okay, fam, first thing on our To Do List, is figure out what to do with George." Jamie spoke up.
"I saw we let him rot in our cells." Mason
"That would be nice, but we have to question him. There's something about him that puts me off slightly." I countered. No one at the table was a fan of that, but they'd just have to suck it up. He was dangerous and had done so many terrible things but we needed what was in his head.
Vampires were a weird bunch. The first vampires were all male. They mated with human women to have their children and then turned their mates into a vampire. And their children were always male. It was destined that way to ensure that they could reproduce because once a female was turned, their reproductive thingamajigs stopped working. There has never been a female vampire born.
George was most definitely human when we were in high school. I would've remembered if there was something odd about him back then as soon as my memories came back. So he must've been recently changed. But he didnt have a mate. His change was troubling because no one should have that power but the Divines.
"I'll clean up while you guys get ready." I announced after we finished eating. He sat in his chair just watching me walk around and tidy up. I playfully huffed at him, "You could help, you know?"
"Nah, I'm good. I'm enjoying the view." He smirked. I was annoyed and so I decided to teach him a lesson about not helping when it is needed. I opened a small water portal while my back was turned to him, sinking him and his chair and sending him to the pool outside.
I know he hated water portals ever since that time I snuck him into the castle and was almost caught by my mother. I had to hide him in the inbetween and the face he made when he was let out was hilarious. No matter how many times I tell him that we can breathe in there, he refused to believe me. I felt him growling in annoyance, dripping wet as he trudged back into the house. With a flick of my wrist, the water on him disappeared, turning into mist that found their way to the sink.
"Are you gonna help me?" I smirked.
His eyes were annoyed but not before a devious smile flashed through them. He took off his shirt and grabbed the cups and plates in one hand, loosening his pants with the other one.
Uggggh, not fair.
He was playing with fire now, but a certain Jamie popped her head around the corner, catching the alpha male almost stripping where she laughed that ugly snorting laugh again. It made me laugh at how he turned beet red.
I am so going to enjoy this.

After everything was washed up and put away, Jamie stepped outside to make a call to Seb who had been texting her nonstop since early this morning since she was the one he'd usually hand the keys to after he closed up. After many threats to call the police were read out loud, Jamie decided it was better to talk to him and convince him that she wasn't abducted and being held for ransom.
Mason and Erica went straight to my bed room after they finished breakfast and haven't been seen since. I cringed, knowing I'd have to burn my mattress when this was all over, but then again, I envied them. The first few days after getting marked were true bliss, most males would lock them and their females up in a cabin and hide for the next week or so.
I remembered when I got marked. We never quite finished the mating process because of the constant battles we had to fight, but I promised that after it ended I would teleport us to a little island off of the coast of Tír na nÓg, home to the Faeries and Fae kind, that my parents had gifted me for my 100th birthday.
But we never got to. A few days after we marked each other, I got injured. But I still couldn't figure out why the bond was as weak as it is. I didn't die, so it wasn't broken, but for it to be this dormant, not allowing my mark to show, someone must've tempered with it. I made a note to ask Liam about it when I got back home. Maybe he concealed with some of his strong fire magic...and I can't undo it on my own because; A, my powers weren't completely back yet and B, our magic are the polar opposites. We never sparred together using magic because it would have been a lot of damage to heal.
But I poured myself another cup of coffee and breathed in the morning air. Giggles from my bedroom, happy chatting from Jamie outside, and my mate staring at me as if I was a banquet and he was starved.
I smiled back him.
It may not be what I'm used to but I like our normal-ish morning so far.
