51. Never Ending Tears

I was speechless.

First, I find out that Nox knew Morgan/Morgana from before...just thinking about the words she said made my heart twist. I felt betrayed. I was too shocked and cold to think of it when I was at the Blood Moon pack, but now that I sat in my own bed, it came back to haunt me.

A side effect of having such strong empath powers, my own emotions are often muddled and delayed.  But damn, was it hitting me hard right now. I almost felt tears again, but I held them back. Defying them. I had cried too much over what has happened. I can't afford to become too emotional right now.

I took a quick shower to wash off the smell of death and smoke. Soon my bath room smelt like roses but my heart still felt heavy in my chest.

I had just found out that my parents were already planning my mating with a Lord of the realm. He mostly watched over the water mages and often spent his time at sea. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention? He is a Triton. The thought of mating with him made me nauseous. He was what humans would call a merman except his kind could walk on two feet on land if he wanted And he had the powers of a siren...everything about him was tempting to those who haven't found their mates. They were always male born of mermaids and tritons. All people of Atlantis.

They had their own kingdom but our grandfather made an alliance with them for the next water mage in his family to be married to their next king. There was no water mage for the next two generations until me. To be honest, my parents had only told me this once and it was never mentioned again. I thought it was already resolved or changed or something. The week before the battle where I was wounded, there was a meeting for all the allies, facilitated by Liam...and I saw Prince Xavier. He was tall, frost white hair, icy blue eyes. Everything screamed wealth and sophistication. He was the exact opposite of Nox. Everything about Nox screamed wilderness and strength acquired through fighting to stay on top.

I snuck away from the party before I met the Prince to meet up with Nox in our spot but I could tell that his eyes were on me the entire time. My dress was specially made for the event although I had opted to wear my armor from training not only because it was comfortable but because it showed them that this was serious.

But my mother insisted that I wear that dress. What was supposed to be a meeting turned out to be a ball and I was livid. That was also half the reason why I ditched the event. I went to check on my men at the barracks and then went to check on my alpha.

The flashback ended just before I turned the shower off. I dried and dressed myself and remembered Rue.

I knocked on her door and entered when she shouted so. I went in and she was dressed in one of Jason's tshirts and boxers. My brother's clothes (pre-potion) still hung on her skinny frame. I sat down on the bed next to her.

"So...What was that burning ball you had next to you?"

Her face shone with happiness and pride. "That was my spirit familiar. San is what he told me to call him." I nodded for her to continue. "Its a spirit made of lightning and fire, born of anger and death. It's quite playful when he first found me."
