Nox, Mason and I waited until the sunset before we made it down to the shed at the back of the pool. That's where the wolves were guarding an angry and still water ring-detained vampire.

His eyes found mine and they went crazy. "She told me that you would be mine! She said that if you looked into my eyes that you would fall in love with me again! What kind of freak are you?!"

My mate growled beside me, his dominance pouring forth and making all of them pale and whimper even the captive.

"You're one to talk." I scoffed. "How did you turn into this?" I looked into his eyes. I wanted to have fun with his interrogation.

I saw his pupils dilate as he tried to control me. Vampires had the power to compel people. Everyone blessed by the Air goddess did, which means that my sister was a pro at it. That being said, I was semi-immune to it. My sister's form of compulsion was strong and whatever he had was a watered down, filtered version of it. It felt like someone was throwing tiny pebbles against glass when he tried to put the suggestion into my head. He wanted me to break his detaining ring and be his hostage. I smiled and raised my hand, making the rings tighten against him and go warmer, almost steaming at this point.

"Try that on me again and I'll make the water so hot it burns your skin right off." I growled out. He froze up and looked away. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that he was ashamed, but I can see in his eyes that he wasn't. He was pissed that I caught him.

"You either start talking or we start playing a game called 'how many fingers and toes do you really need'."

I would've expected that sentence from Mason or Nox, or me since I was always tasked with making prisoners of war talk, but no. The door to the shed was opened and inside stepped a pissed Erica. She was all fury right now. "And trust me, George, after every single bone in your hands and feet are broken, I'll cut you open and start removing things, not enough to kill you but let's just say that there's no amount of painkillers nearby that will save you from the pain."

I was so surprised. I have never heard her this hateful and cruel. I mean, I'm no saint but she was always the happy smart one. I guess what George did was despicable and needed punishment, but I hated seeing my friend change because of it.

His laugh utterly infuriating. He laughed like he thought she was bluffing, like he was hearing a child tell a hilarious story that was completely made up.

She let out a furious growl that made the warriors standing around us bow their head in submission. Even though she was newly shifted, their wolves recognised her as their Beta Female. I glared at the vampire.

"How did you become a vampire? How did you turn? Who turned you?" I tried to make my voice a lot calmer

His whole face changed. From laughing to sobbing like a maniac, tears dropped from his face as he wailed.

"She told me that she hated me. She didn't want me to ruin her plans because I wasn't like her. But she was so beautiful, I thought I died and went to heaven." He said between hiccups.

"Looked into my eyes and the next thing I knew, 5 weeks had past and I was back in my apartment. Everyone thought I-.." his face twisted in pain as the laughing started up again. It was almost too much to see someone I cared about like this.

"She's gonna kill you all!" More evil laughing and before I could ask more questions, I had to protect him from three raging werewolves.

"Alright, enough!" I was getting angry. I was trying to help because he was obviously in pain and not sure about what was going on, but the Mason, Nox and Erica just saw a threat and wanted to eliminate him. They were working on pure animal instinct and I couldn't fault them, but I couldn't have them raging like mindless creatures.
