CHAPTER 49

Lyra's calls wake me up.

"Heyyy! Why aren't you answering from so long?" She yells.

"Morning! Can you calm the fuck down. I just woke up. What happened?"

"What to wear???"

"Are you kidding me? For this, you were calling?"

"Yes. Tell me. I sent you two images."

"Fuck you, bitch. I'm going to sleep!"

"Sorry for spoiling your sleep but like-" I hang up and throw myself in bed. I hear the phone ring so I switch it off and fall asleep.
I wake up after an hour to find her in pajamas at my place.

"What the fuck are you doing here? How did you come here-"

"My driver dropped me here. I wanted to chill out with you so yeah."

"Okay." I say, rubbing my eyes to see her clearly. I literally can't function. I never imagined she would come over. I still can't believe she's here.

"I got my outfits, make up and  shit here so we can dress up and go together for the bonfire."

"Okay." I frown. "What about Celine and Tessa?"

"I didn't tell them anything so they'll come themselves to school."

"You're so mean. You know we four are always together."

"Chill! It's not like they're gonna be mad at us."

"I'm sure, they'll be mad at us!"

After having breakfast, I text Zac to see if he's okay. Then send pictures of us to Celine and Tessa. Tessa isn't online so we FaceTime Celine. Later, we order pizza and decide to watch a movie. We watch "Lady like" but we find it shit so we change it and watch, "Out of my League" By then, the pizza and cold drink also arrives. We make popcorns too. It's a pretty old movie but a funny one. We laugh our asses out then realize the time, it's past 4 already. We take our baths one by one, then Lyra tries different outfits and does her modeling infront of me. I help her decide what to wear and get dressed myself. We do each other's make up and she insists on putting eye liner for me. After refusing so much I finally give in and let her put that shit.

"It's past 6!" I shout.

"Like everyone's gonna come at exact 7!" She rolls her eyes.

"We need good lighting to click good pictures. Let's be there before it turns dark."

"Uff okay." She sighs.

We reach school at exact 7 and find Celine and Tessa waiting for us at the entrance.

"It's already dark!" I pout.

"No problem. We can still get good pictures!"

After clicking loads of pictures, I meet Melissa and Delilah. They tell me that Kim wasn't able to come because of her family dinner. I die to ask them if Luna's coming but instead I keep it in me. Several times, I find myself searching for Luna, I have no idea why. I shouldn't have to be bothered whether she's here or not. I hope she comes anyways.

"Your best friend's here." Celine whispers.

"My best friend? No, Kim's at her family dinner and why would Elaine or Shawn be here?"

"I'm talking about Luna. I just saw her."

"You did? Where is she?"

"I just did. There!" She points out.

"Stop pointing! Where's she? I can't see." My heart begins to race and I feel some sort of excitement fill within me. She catches my hand and takes me to her but at that moment, Melissa and Delilah call me to click pictures. I follow them and find Luna standing with Ari holding out the phone in her hand, clicking pictures. She looks pretty as always and her curls dance about in a beautiful way as she moves. She turns around and our eyes meet. I look away at the bonfire being lit. Everyone gathers around it. Suddenly a part of me feels sad and misses Kim. I wish she was here. We all could bring back our memories but then my subconscious hits me, nothing will ever be the same.
After clicking a few pictures with them, I search for Lyra and all. Then only, Laura appears in front of me, holding out a big slab of chocolate with Happy Valentine's Day written on it.

"This is for you!" Laura says.

"Umm, for me?"

"Yes." She then looks at Luna who's staring at us no me from afar.

"This is from my side. I swear. You look really beautiful!"

"Thanks so much. And so do you." I take it from her hand, smile and look towards Luna who's staring at me, her lips turned up in a broad smile, deepening her dimples. I look away and smile to myself. I know it's from Luna. She's probably wishing me for Valentine's Day. She knows I love chocolates.
Wait, what's wrong with me? I can't give in to her this time. I can't let her do that. I can't go back to her. I can't let this happen. I go towards the cold drink stall and find Celine sitting besides on the steps.

"Here!" Celina calls out to me.

"I saw you. I'm not blind!" I roll my eyes at her. "By the way, where's Lyra and Tess?"

"I don't know. They were just here."

My eyes scan all over in search for them but instead I see Luna heading towards me. No, I'm mistaken she's heading towards the cold drink stall. Buying cold drink for herself and- umm Laura.

"Taste the biryani." Celine offers me.

As soon as I take a mouth full of the rice, I get choked. My chest begins to burn and my eyes start to water. I can't breath. Fuck. I cough my lungs out until I feel Luna's hand rubbing my back.

"Lexi, are you okay? Go get her some water!" She yells at Celine.

It's not stopping. I'm coughing away and my chest is burning like hell. My eyes are probably red by now. Celine goes to get water while Luna continues to rub my back. Celine hurries back with a bottle of water.

"I'm fine." I lie as continue to cough.

"I can see that." Luna says sarcastically.

Luna grabs it from her hand, holds my chin and places the bottle to my mouth. I place my hand on the bottle to lower it down but she does the opposite and lifts it higher, just then I realize my hand is on hers. I don't know what to feel anymore. I don't know whether I should let her or just push her away.

"Thanks."

"Are you okay?" She asks in her sweetest tone.

"Yes. I'm fine." I lie. My chest still burns though.

"Hey Lexi, are you okay?" Two to three people ask me at the same time.

"Yes, I am." I smile at them.

"Lexi, you look really beautiful. It's not like I'm hitting on you but you know I'm bisexual right?"  Ashley smiles and winks at me then looks at Luna glaring at her.

"Thanks and yes I know." I smile back. I can still see Luna glaring at her from the corner of my eye.

Just as they leave, Lyra and Tessa head towards us.

"Are you okay now?" They both ask. "Luna just told us-"

"Yeah yeah." I cut her off. "Where did you'll disappear?"

"We were at the BBQ stall."

"Oh."

After few minutes, Lyra says,
"Let's go dance now!"

We dance for a while but I leave, when the music turns shit. I walk away from the crowd and find myself sitting all alone in the dark corridor, where all the classrooms are, far away from where the bonfire is taking place.
