It's because of me that Zac is in this state.

I shouldn't have called him on repeat.

I should have known he would be on his way.

He met with an accident trying to answer my call.

Ugh, Lexi!

"He had a cerebral aneurysm. Because of a multiple concussions and high blood pressure, his aneurysm ruptured. Neurosurgical clipping, a major operation is being done. He was brought here in time, he could have had a subarachnoid hemorrhage because of the ruptured aneurysm which could lead to surviving with disability or even death." Mia explains to me. I give her a silent nod as my brain processes whatever she just said.

"It's been an extremely long time that he is in." I finally speak.

"The operation takes about three to four hours Lex." Hardin tells me.

"If it started before we arrived, it should be done by now. We're here for more than two hours."

"It may take longer Lex. Relax. He'll be fine." Hardin pulls me close, rubbing his palm over the upper part of my back.

He then walks over to Zac's father and giving him a consoling pat on his back, stands besides him with his arm around his shoulders. Mia and me take a seat right infront of the operation theater. Lucas and Danny pace back and forth making calls to inform the rest of his friends.

"The operation was successful. His life is out of danger." The neurosurgeon announces as soon as he steps out.

Relief washes over me, infact over all of us. I throw my arms over Mia, tears rolling down my cheek. Hardin rushes over to me and hugs me tightly.

"Is he conscious?" Zac's father asks the doctor.

"Not as yet. It'll take some time. It was a serious case. He's lucky he survived. I just hope he has a good recovery. There is a possibility of a few complications but that depends."

After the doctor leaves, Hardin insists that all of us should go down to the cafeteria to eat something since it's way past dinner time. We make our way to the cafeteria and a sign board reads "self service." We take a seat at one of the tables while Hardin gets the menu cards. He sits besides me and nudging me, asks "Lex, what do you wanna eat?"

"I don't feel like eating, Hardin."

"You have to eat something. I don't think you've eaten anything after lunch."

"I'm not really hungry."

"He'll be fine Lex. Here see what you wanna order." He slides the menu card on the table towards me. Without really reading, I just stare at it, flipping it front to back and vice versa.

"Stop doing that. I know you're not gonna tell me yourself so I might as well order something for you myself." Saying this, he gets up from his seat. "Da- Malcolm? Mia? I'm going to the counter, give me your orders."

"No no, thanks Hardin. I haven't decided yet. I'll go myself later."  Mia says.

He nods and walks over to the counter. My eyes are on him as he waits at the counter for about four to five minutes. I watch the counter attendant place two trays infront of Hardin. Not like he can't carry both but I still get up from my seat and walk over to help him.
I peep into the trays which have club sandwiches in it.

The sight of food makes me want to throw up so I cover my mouth and look away.

"I know it's not healthy but it's healthier than the rest of the food on that menu card."
