The tintinabulation of the bell hits my ears and I jump up in my seat, dropping the pen from my hand. I scurry to pick it up and complete the writing. Just then, the egoistic and snobbish invigilator pulls out the sheets of paper from beneath my hands. I plead to her to let me complete but she refuses to even listen to me. "Bitch!" I murmur under my breath.
"How was it?" Luna asks as I assemble my papers. I don't answer pretending not to hear.
"Hey Lexi! How's Zac? I heard he met with an accident last night." Kim asks. "He's fine. He'll be discharged by evening." I answer abruptly.
I place the assembled sheets in my folder and head outside the examination room.
"Hey! Lexi! I didn't get my answer!" Luna shouts, behind me.
I turn round, run my eyes over her and then looking at her straight in the eye, say in an apathetic manner. "Sorry. I didn't hear what you said."
"But you heard what Kim said! Nice." She brings her palms together and claps, then rolling her eyes at me asks again, "How was it?"
"The exam? Oh, it went great!" I answer. Least bothered to ask about her's, I turn round to walk out.
Suddenly I turn and the words leaves my mouth, "And your's?"
"Mine wasn't that good but it's okay." She smiles, looking right into my eyes. Just then, I realize I was staring into her's. I blink away and head out. As I step out of the gate, I see Hardin waiting outside.
"Hey." He smiles at me and waves out his arm, signaling me. I walk to him and ask, "Hi. What are you doing here?"
"I thought to pick you up since Zac isn't there to. Is it okay?"
"I guess, my mom spoke to Shawn about picking me up after he finishes his exam but like I don't know."
"I know."
"What? Uh, how do you know?"
"Shawn was supposed to pick you up but he just texted me saying his paper was taken and so he had to stay back for some shit, I don't know. So I thought I would, you know pick you up."
"Oh. Thanks but I guess I'll just go home in the rick."
"Oh come on. I'm here and I'm not gonna let you go home alone. You'd rather trust that Rick guy than me?"
"It's not about trust. It's just that..." I hesitate.
"I already informed your mom that I'll be getting you home."
"Okay, fine I'm coming with you."
"Thanks so much.. You've been a great help since last night. Taken me to the hospital, dropped me home. Thanks for everything Hardin."
"Please Alexia, you don't need to thank me. How can I not be worried about my br- umm Zac."
"Huh? Why are you even- uh anyways. Hmm I should go, bye."
Please stay away from me, don't evoke my feelings.
"Bye. Also, please take care of yourself." His lips curve upwards in a smile.
What's wrong with him? He was always so rude to me and I everyone knows and saw that. Now, all of a sudden he's starting to be so kind and stuff. This doesn't seem right. There's something going on. He's definitely upto something. Either he's taking advantage of me, for the fourth time or he's really started to feel and care for me. I don't know but I can't let him make me feel for him again. He has to stay far from me. I have to keep distance. Zac is all I want and should want right now and always. Till I'm with Zac, I shouldn't feel for anyone else besides him.
