Ch.85 Ruby Room

So the next day, Anna gave her dad the run down on her named situation and he was just happy for her and was 100% supportive,so that was good, and Anna was out skating with Billie and her phone rang,so she looked at the number and it looked really familiar,but she couldn't put a name to it,so she answered it
"Hello"
"Anna"and she knew that voice,it was her grandma, her mom's mom,and she sighed
"What do you want"
"I'm putting the house up for sale and I was wondering if you want to come and get stuff you left,or take whatever"and Anna thought about it and remembered that she had some stuff still there,that she loved
"Sure,yeah I'm come by in the next few days"
"Okay"and she hung up and Billie looked at her and spoke
"Who was that"
"My grandma"
"What'd she want"
"She's putting the house up for sale and she wanted to know if I wanted to go over and get some of my stuff or take anything,and I got some stuff there that I gotta get"and to Billie's knowledge, Anna hasn't been by her mom's house since her dad filed for custody,and Billie saw the upset look on her face
"Youngblood what's wrong"
"Nothing I just know it's gonna be hard for me to go back there,cause of reasons that you don't even know"so they skated around and found a random bench and Billie spoke
"Well tell me Youngblood"and she sighed
"What you,the guys,and Adrienne don't know is that when I would be at my mom's even at her old place, everyday it was my grandma just drinking,nothing really hard, but in general and being pissed off and my mom was the only person around to keep her drinking remotely in check,and now that she's not around anymore,who knows what I'm walking into"and Billie understood and gave Anna a hug
"It's her free pass to get shit faced,and use the excuse of grief stricken and basically I grew up around a functioning alcoholic most of my life and it's just hard and I was invisible there,unless I said something that really hit a nerve, it was just my grandma drinking and watching the news and my mom be wrapped up with whatever her boyfriend was doing and running off with him and when I talked, it was like I was a ghost and no one was talking,so I just sat in my room and listened to music,and I should have been immune to being ignored,but I'm human,so eventually I learned to not talk, and when my grandma would ask me about something, I would tell her but no matter what it was, it would always lead to an argument,so I just stopped talking,and acted like it was school,keep to yourself, stay under the radar, don't let them see your emotions,so no questions are asked and down the list,hell I made a fucking playlist called 'Invisible' filled with songs like Redundant,Boulevard of Broken Dreams,and Christie Road"and Billie wanted to cry hearing this and he spoke
"So that's why booze triggers you so badly"
"Yeah, and other events,hell one Halloween, I was like 12 and my grandma decided to drink while passing out candy,so as the day went on she got more and more drunk and she wanted me to play some of my music for her,so I started playing Green Day and I kept thinking of what song I could play for her and she was just rushing me,and she started calling people and cussing them out and yelling about shit, then was just yelling and swear,none of it was directed at me,but I had to deal with that for almost two hours and I got so pissed that I played Letterbomb and started saying the words and she yelled at me five times to turn it off,so that was fun,because my mom was outta town,so that was her free pass to get drunk, reguardless if I was there or not,that was fun"and Billie gave her a hug and spoke
"I'm sorry you had to go through that Youngblood"
"It's fine"
"Do you wanna keep this between us for now"
"Yeah"and now Anna was thinking about her grandma being a drunk,she remembered a lot of stuff she had said about a certain someone and spoke
"That fucking cunt bitch"and Billie looked a little shocked at those words
"How bad"he siad sighing
"One time before I met you guys and I was talking about you and how you weren't okay,because she was going on a rant about how you guys never got clean or some shit and I explained it fully to here,about iHeart and how you went into rehab after and that you got clean and are back kicking butt and happy and healthy and she called you a bunch of shit, she called you a jackass asshole drunk,and said that's how every rock star is and that they never change and I almost lost it on her, but my mom said something before I could and I almost started crying to hear her say that stuff about you,even though I didn't even know you yet"and he gave her a hug and smiled
"I know you will raise hell on anyone who says bad shit about me,the guys,Adrienne,or your dad, and we will always do the same for you Youngblood"and Anna smiled back at him
"And clearly she doesn't know what the fuck she's talking about because she never got clean and she didn't see how it made you feel"
"Yeah"and Billie spoke
"So in the next few days we should just head back to Milwaukee"and Anna nodded
"So here's the plan Youngblood, you and me are just gonna go over there and I'll make sure you're good and you get your stuff and we get the fuck outta there"and Anna spoke
"Sounds good"so they skated and cruised around some more and went and chilled at a random skate park,and Anna remembered that her buddy, Joe, might still be in California,so she called him up
"What's up Anna"
"Hey man,wanna come hang with me and Billie"
"Of course,where you guys at"
"Uh some skate park,I text you it"
"Okay,see ya"so she sent the location to her buddy and about 15 minutes later he showed up
"Hey man"and he saw her arm
"Holy crap Anna,what cazy trick you try and land this time"and Billie spoke
"A front foot impossible at full speed"
"Dang"and Anna laughed a little
"Yeah,well comes with the territory"
"You got me there,so you wanna skate"
"Yep"so they went and skated and stuff and Billie just watched them have fun and was smiling,cause he knew that once Anna got on a board,everything disappears,so after some good skating they just chilled and Anna spoke
"Uh we're heading back to Milwaukee in a couple days,just so you know"
"Okay cool"and Anna just as a joke
"Hey you still talk to Ben"and Joe started dying laughing
"Yeah"
"Wait really"and Billie just looked confused and Anna spoke
"Ben was in our class in seventh grade and he use to give me so much shit for liking Green Day,he use to fucking look up King for a Day live on school computers and it was the funniest shit ever, he use to sexualize you a lot and accused me of having a thing for you and I almost knocked him the fuck out,it was all in good fun,but sometimes he crossed the line,and I was there to put him in check"and she was laughing and Joe spoke
"Remember when he looked up the Dominated Love Slave lryics in class and Platypus"Joe said laughing
"Oh my god yeah"and Anna was dying,laughing
"Or when-nevermind I'm not gonna say that"and Anna whispered it in Joe's ear
"When he went around chanting 'Billie Joe Thongstrong'"and Joe almost fell over laughing
"Dear god, I'm dying,wait wait wait, remember our inside joke"

"I say ah"and Anna just looked at Billie and was dying laughing and he spoke

"Yep,and it was yelled in a Catholic middle school almost every 15 minutes"
"Wow Youngblood,and this kid really did all that,just to mess with you"
"Yep and to seriously mess with me, before he knew I was gay,he would legit fucking go around school moaning your name"and both Anna and Joe fell over laughing and Billie just sat there like what the fuck and was laughing
"Okay then"and both Anna and Joe got back up and Anna spoke
"It was never dull when Ben was around" and Billie spoke
"Sounds like it,so what sound we do now,weirdos"and Anna spoke
"Go hang out with Stacy"
"Sounds good"so they headed over there and walked into Powell Peralta Skate Shop and Stacy was behind the count and spoke
"Hi Andy"and Anna just smiled and spoke
"Eh,I'm Anna today"
"Okay"and Joe just looked at her confused and she explained it to him,so they hung out and skated around outside and it was fun and Joe eventually left and Stacy spoke
"You know, you just light up a room when you walked in,I swear, you just have that fun loving energy"he said at Anna and Billie spoke
"I second that"he said smiling
"Thanks"
"So your dad out skating"
"Yeah,I don't know with who though"
"How's your arm"
"Good"
"Yeah,and I need to skate,or my head is gonna explode"and Billie spoke
"Then go skate Youngblood"and she immediately ran out and started skating and Billie just watched her,with a smile on his face and he spoke
"I'm glad that she has skating,that's her release,she'd lose her mind if she didn't have it"and Stacy spoke
"Yeah,she's amazing at it though,and why do you say that, that she'd lose her mind"
"Well,no matter what she's going through she always has skating because she says that everything just disappears when she gets on a board"
"What's going on with her"and Billie sighed
"Well she has cut off a lot back in Wisconsin and her grandma called her and she has to go back to one of her most hated places to get some stuff she left and she loves and it's just hard for her,both knowing and not knowing what she's walking into"and Billie explained the rest and told him a lot about Anna, that he didn't know and the back story and by the end of explaining it to Stacy,he was just in shock and spoke
"Dang, that kid is strong, now I get how she's so mature for her age"
"Yeah,but still fun loving"Billie said smiling
"Yeah,and she seriously went through all of that on her own"
"Yeah and you know how Rodney was quiet and didn't talk for periods of time"
"Yeah"
"Well that was Anna,when she was really young and when she use to go to school and at her mom's house"
"Really"Stacy said in shock
"Yeah,she was so invisible at her mom's house because no one listened when she talked,so she just didn't talk,so she expresed it by skating"
"That really sounds like Rodney"
"I know,but just don't tell anyone about this okay"
"I won't, just like you I worry about her,I have a soft spot for her"and Billie laughed a little and spoke
"I think everyone does"so they just talked for a while and then went out by Anna and watched her skate and Stacy skated with her and she had a smile on her face,which made Billie smile,so that was good and Stacy spoke
"You are just like Caballero,for your size you doing stuff you shouldn't be able to do"Stacy said to Anna,laughing a little and Anna laughed a little
"Yeah,I guess you're right"so it was a very skate filled day and eventually Anna and Billie headed back home and went out on the ledge and Anna started crying and Billie immediately hugged her
"Billie I'm scared,I'm really scared"and she was shaking and he just hugged her close
"It's okay Youngblood.just breathe,it's okay"and Billie hummed to calm her down,so once she was calmed down she spoke
"God only knows what we're gonna walk into and I'm scared"and then she remembered,her mom's dog
"No no no no no,shit,I completely forgot,my mom's dog, her dead beat husband probably up and left after my mom died and left the dog with my grandma ,oh no no no no,she gets violent when she's drunk,she better not have hurt him dear god no"and Billie just hugged her and spoke
"Youngblood look at me"and she did
"I promise you,we will get your dog back, doggos are always welcome"he said smiling,which made Anna smile
"Thanks Billie"
"Of course Youngblood"
(Time skip-2 days)
Anna and Billie were on a flight back to Wisconsin, so once they landed,they headed to Scott's and Anna spoke
"It's really weird it just being us here"
"Yeah,well come on Youngblood lets get this over with"and her face fell,so they drove over to her mom's house and she had a pit in her stomach and she was shaking inside,and holding back tears,so they got out and walked up the driveway and Anna unlocked the door with her key and the house stunk of booze and weed, and she saw her grandma passed out on the couch,with a bottle of Jack Daniels in her hand and Billie held Anna's hand,so as wuietly as they could,they snuck past her grandma,into her old room and she saw her mom's dog curled up in a corner and he had marks on him and was so skinny and tears just poured out of her eyes and she went over by him and pet him
"Hey buddy"and he looked up at her and he got up and wagged his tail
"It's okay buddy,I'm here"she said in a whisper,and he tried to walk,but was limping,so Billie picked him up and spoke
"Youngblood,grab your stuff and lets go"he said in a whisper and he walked out of her room with her dog and when she heard the door shut quietly,she knew Billie was good,so he put Anna's dog in the car and just pet him for a few minutes and Anna found a box and put all of her stuff in it and her dog's collar and leash and walked out of her room and she saw her grandma awake just then Billie walked in and he grandma spoke
"What the fuck are you doing here you little fucker"her grandma slurred and Billie spoke
"Youngblood,lets go"and Anna walked out the door and went and put her stuff in the car and pet her dog,but Billie stayed back and a few minutes later Billie came out and got in the car
"Everything's good"and Anna spoke
"Head to the park"
"Okay"so they drove to the park like 2 minutes away and Anna got out and grabbed a bottle of water and put the collar on her dog and leash and helped get him out of the car and onto the huge grass field and Billie grabbed a blanket out of the back of the car and laid it down on the grass and both him and Anna sat down on it and Anna's dog laid in front of them and Billie pet him and spoke
"What's his name"
"Bandit,but I just call him Bandy"
"Well hi Bandit,I'm Billie"Billie said smiling and Anna smiled
"What kind of dog is he"
"He's a boxer"and she gave Bandit some water and he was so happy to see Anna and so was she
"Come on buddy,we gotta get you to the animal hospital"so tehy got him in the car and Anna was in tears and Billie spoke
"What's wrong Youngblood"and she smiled
"Nothing I'm just happy to have Bandy back"and Billie smiled
"Okay"so they pulled up to the animal hospital and got out and got Bandit out and went it and got Bandit signed in and he was examined and Anna and Billie had to sitting in the waiting room and Anna was nervous,anxious,and scared as fuck and she was on the verge of tears and she was just sitting there staring at the floor and her head flooding with bad memories and Billie noticed,so he took her hand in his and she snapped out of out her trance and looked at him and he spoke
"It's okay Youngblood"he said in a soft voice and tears poured out of her eyes and Billie immediately pulled her into his arms and he just hugged her and he could feel her shaking and thank god they were the only people in the waiting room and she stopped crying after a few minutes,but she was still shaking inside and Billie just hugged her and when they let go Billie's shirt was soaked with tears and Anna spoke
"Sorry"she said in small voice
"No it's okay Youngblood,what's wrong"
"This is the same animal hospital that Bandit's brother, Toby was in and he was really sick and in here for a couple days and the day we thought we were gonna have to put him down, he was all better and we got to bring him home but then two weeks later he got really really sick again and we had to put him down and it was really bad, I kept saying I wanted to kill myself to be with him and I basically had a mental breakdown and cried my eyes out for a week straight and we put him down five days before school started and I was a mess and after we went back home with only one dog,Bandit went around the house looking for Toby and was whining and whimpering"and Anna had tears rolling down her face
"And I don't want to go through that again with Bandit,I can't and I swear if she hurt him I swear"and Billie hugged her
"It'll be okay"and Billie was trying to think of stuff that would cheer Anna up,so he pulled out his phone and texted Adrienne,that Anna was upset and called her and handed Anna his phone
"Hey Youngblood"and Anna smiled at the sound of Adrienne's voice
"Hi 80"and Adrienne was gonna try and cheer Anna up
"Is Billie by you"
"Yeah"
"Is he adorable as always"and Anna laughed a little and looked at Billie and smiled
"Yes,when is he not"and Billie spoke
"Are you guys talking about me"he said smiling and laughing a little and Anna spoke
"Maybe"and went back to her call with Adrienne and spoke
"Could you uh send some picture of little Billie"
"Of course,can you send some pictures of you and Billie"and Anna laughed a little
"Sure,bye 80,love you"
"Bye Youngblood,love you too,and if you're sad,just think of a T-rex trying to make a bed"and Anna started laughing
"Let me guess,Tre is there"

"Bye 80"and she hung up and spoke
"80 wants us to send some pictures of us"and Billie started laughing
"Okay,give me my phone"so she did,and they took a bunch of pictures and Anna looked at her phone and looked through the little Billie pictures that Adriene sent her and was smiling and Billie spoke

"Yeah"she said smiling and eventually they could see Bandit and the doctor told them what was wrong, he was extremely malnurished and had a broken paw,so there was a cast on one of his legs and there were no signs of abuse,and Anna was so relieved and then had to keep him overnight for observation and to get him eating again,so they just chilled with him for a little bit and he was okay,so when they left Billie spoke
"Looks like we're gonna have to stay here a little longer"and Anna spoke
"I don't care,as long as Bandy's okay"and Billie just smiled and wrapped his arm around her,so they headed back to Scott's and Billie was laughing
"Hmh"and he spoke
"Well,we can do whatever we want,because no one's here to worry or wonder where we are,but we can't get stopped by the cops,cause we got no one to bail us out"
"True"
"Well then what should we do Youngblood"Billie said smiling and she had a smirk on her face and spoke
"Crazy idea,but you wanna free tattoo"and Billie just laughed and looked at her confused

"A, tattoo, my dad's buddy is a fucking artist when it comes to tattoos,like he has tattooed a lot of famous people,he even tattooed the lead singer of Ratt"

"Yep,so wanna or not"

"It's walking distance"so tehy started walking there and Anna spoke
"You got an idea of a tattoo or where you're gonna get it done"
"Yeah, it's a surprise and on my hand" and Billie slung his arm around Anna's neck and spoke

"Yeah,it's kinda good to be back"she said smiling and they just talked and joke all the way there and they walked in and Anna spoke

"Of course,hop in the chair man"he said to Billie and he did and Billie told him the tattoo he wanted and wouldn't let Anna hear and he started tattooing Billie and Jim spoke

"Well let me see,since you wouldn't tell me what you were getting before"and she showed her his hand and the tattoo was the word 'Youngblood' in calligarphy,cursive whatever, formed by a mic cord with a mic attached to it and next to it,a little skateboard and a little guitar and a little black heart and Anna gave him a hug
"I fricking love you"
"Love you too Youngblood" and Anna spoke
"Hey look up some recent Green Day stuff,you'll find my dad behind a kit at some shows and look up him and me skating"amd Jim spoke
"Will do and tell your dad I'll give him a free tattoo for being pro"
"I will,bye"and Billie spoke
"Seriously thanks,bye man"
"Bye guys"so they walked out and were both smiling and Anna spoke
"I swear you are the sweetest person ever,you got a fricking tattoo of my nickname,and let me see that again"and Billie showed her again and she was just in awe and he thought that was cute and he smiled

"I'd say skate but we left our boards in Oakland"
"Shit,we did"Billie said laughing
"Well then to the skate shop"so they headed over to the skate shop and when they walked in teh dud behind the counter spoke
"Holy shit, members of Green Day and a pro from Powell Peralta,and Scott Kushner's kid"and Anna spoke
"Yeah,he's pro now, we both skate for Stacy"
"Cool,so what can I do for you guys"and Anna laughed a little
"Well we accidently left our boards in Oakland"
"I gotcha,so you guys wanna build a deck or what"
"Hell yes"so Anna picked out a Caballero deck, black trucks and some Powell Peralta wheels,and Billie picked out Anna's Saint Insomnia deck, black trucks and Powell Peralta wheels stuff and the dude put them together and gripped them and stuff and spoke
"Since you are Scott Kushner's kid,and are pro, if you signed one of your decks, I'll give that board to you for free"and then he looked at Billie
"Same for you man"
"Sweet"so they signed to of Anna's boards and they walked out of the skate shop with to brand new boards and they skated back to Scott's and headed to Cream City and Anna got out of the car and ran in the door and said a quick 'hi' to the guys behind the counter and ran right upstairs to the bowl and just ripped it up and Billie walked in laughing and went and found her and watched her skate for a while,so she jumped out of the bowl and sat up by Billie and spoke
"Want me to teach you how to ride a bowl Billo"and he laughed a little
"Sure why not"so they both slid down into the bowl and Anna showed Billie how to ride it and he got it down,so they were both just cruising and stuff,so after three hours of hard skating they were done and spoke
"What should we do now Youngblood"
"Movies and chill"
"Sounds good"he said smiling,so they headed back to Scott's and just relaxed and watched movies,and it was still really weird it just being them there and Anna passed out on the couch next to Billie and he just laughed a little and covered her up and then fell asleep. So the next day began with a coffee run and some skating,then they went and saw Bandit and the doctor told them that he was eating really good and his paw was still gonna take a little bit to heal, but they he could be released in a day or two and Anna smiled so much after hearing those words,so they chilled with Bandit and stuff and after they just cruised around town and Billie noticed the upset look on Anna's face
"What's wrong Youngblood"
"Just bad memories that won't leave me alone"
"Oh"and Billie took her wristband hand in his and smiled at her and that made her smile and he knew what would cheer her up,so they headed over to Baskin Robbins and got ice cream and Billie spoke
"So where you wanna go Youngblood"he said smiling
"McKinely"so they headed over there and Anna had a wave of nostalgia wash over her and she smiled and laughed a little and pointed to a corner on another block and spoke
"That corner was Still Breathing,that one was Back in the USA, that one was Nuclear Family and Fell For You,that one was Revolution Radio,that one was Bang Bang,that one was Warning,and that one was Walking Condtradiction"she said pointing to different street corners from where she was standing and Bille just smiled at her and then went and grabbed something outta the car and went back over by her and spoke
"Youngblood"and she turned around and Billie snapped a picture of her,with the polaroid and he laughed a little,so she walked up to him and grabbed the picture outta his hand and as a joke,started running and Billie chased and eventually caught her and slung her over his shoulder and she was laughing
"Billie put me down"
"Nope"and he put her down and she was laughing and spoke
"How am I still under five-foot at 15"and Billie spoke
"I don't know but what I do know is that you're adorable"
"Look who's talking"and Billie just laughed,so they just hung out there and had fun,so they were just chilling on one of the benches and Anna just leaned against Billie

"Nothing,you always make me smile,so yeah I rest my case"and he laughed a little
"Not because you love me"
"Well that too"and Billie just laughed and spoke
"Y'know this place is actually really peaceful"
"Yeah,that's why I loved it so much"

"Yeah,and one day I wanna forget this place but I know that can't happen"
"I understand Youngblood"and she sat up
"Y'know you, besides the guys,Adrienne, my dad,Joan,and my skaters, are one of the few people who takes me for who I am and doesn't care what my past holds,but you help my through it and I have only met outside of all those awesome people, two, and you put a smile on my face everyday,because A:you're adorable,and B:you make sure that I'm happy"she said smiling
"Right back at you Youngblood"he siad smiling and laughed a little
"So what do you think little Billie's gotta be like when we bring Bandit home"
"Probably be excited and what the fuck at the same time,but all that matters is that he is surrounded by people that love him and help him"
"Of course Youngblood,believe me if we could,we'd have a million dogs"and Anna just smiled,and it was a pretty good day. So the next day they went and saw how Bandit was doing, well before that they took care of the whole ownership thing and Billie adopted Bandit for Anna and she started crying tears of pure joy,so nothing bad,so they went and checked on Bandit and the doctors told them that he made extremely good progress and he was back to normal weight for the most part, you couldn't see his ribs anymore,so that was good and they could take him home and Anna was so happy,so Billie signed some paper work and stuff and they got some pain meds for Bandit's paw and they were good to go,so they left the animal hospital and got Bandit in the car and Anna sat in the backseat with him because she was so happy to have him back and she was petting,loving,and talking to him the whole way back to Scott's,so they packed up whatever stuff they brought with them and then went to the pet store with Bandit and got him some new stuff and toys, then headed back to Scott's grabbed their stuff and hopped on a flight back to Oakland,so they landed at like 4:00 and headed back home and Anna still was smiling because of Bandit and when they walked in the door little Billie ran up to them and saw Bandit and started barking and running around all excited,so once he chilled out him and Bandit checked each other out and Anna spoke
"Little Billie meet Bandit and Bandit meet little Billie"and Adrienne walked in the room and gave them a hug and spoke
"So who's this"she said smiling,petting Bandit and Anna spoke
"That's Bandit,he was originally my mom and grandma's dog but we got him back"
"Oh,well he's adorable"so Bandit and little Billie got to play together and Anna was just sitting outside watching them and meanwhile,Billie was explaining their trip to Adrienne and he cried a little
"It was really hard for her and I swear I've never met a kid that strong"Billie said in tears,smiling
"She is"Adrienne said smiling
"The look on her face when the vet told us we could bring Bandit home and when I adopted him for her,she cried because she was so happy"he said smiling
