Ch.81 Christie Rd.

So they were back in California,planning on working on the movie some more and Anna was skating with Rodney most of the time,so all was good, it was Saturday and Anna woke up to a barking little Billie and saw Billie standing in the doorway, like he was ready to go somehwere
"Morning Youngblood"he said smiling
"Hey Billo"
"C'mon Youngblood"
"Where we going"she said getting out of bed
"It's a surprise"so Billie headed downstairs and Anna changed into some street clothes and went downstairs by Billie and found him sitting on the counter with a cup of coffee and one right next to him and Anna grabbed it and hopped up on the counter next to him
"My dad out skating with Rodney"
"Yeah"and the curiosity was killing Anna
"So no hint to where we're going"
"Nope"he said smiling and taking a drink of his coffee, so Billie hopped down and went and grabbed some stuff and came back and Anna saw what he had; a polariod,some film,and a shit ton of Cds,and memories of the Sunset Strip came flooding back to Anna and she just laughed a little and smiled and she finished her coffee and hopped down
"Come on,not even a little hint"
"Nope"
"Fine"and Billie was just smiling and spoke
"Grab your board too, Youngblood"and she did,so they left and of course had windows down,blasting music and Anna had absolutely no idea where Billie was heading to, until she saw a sign that said Rodeo,California and she knew what was going on
"Billie you're showing me where you grew up aren't you"
"Yep"so they drove around and Billie was pointing out places and stuff and Anna could tell that he was getting nostalgic for sure and Billie showed Anna the street that he grew up on and he spoke
"When I was around your age and a little younger, I would have such bad panic,anxiety attacks at night and I would sneak out my window and wander around to clear my head,like how you roamed the blocks around Tosa to clear your head and get away from it all and damn,nothing's changed"and Anna could tell that it was kinda hard for Billie to be here
"You good Billo"
"Yeah I'm good Youngblood,just nostalgic"he said smiling at her,he showed her all the places he would hang out and passed where he went to high school with Mike,Pinole Valley High School
"Remember how you found one of our very first shows there"
"Yeah"
"I was just like you in school,under the radar,keep to myself and stuff,so it was weird playing a set,especially in front of kids I knew like that"so they eventually pulled over and got out and skated and wandered around Billie's old neighborhood
"Y'know how your mom's old place was"
"Yeah"
"Well it's kinda like that here,so I get it" and Billie was taking pictures of Anna skating,and they skated down Billie street,in the middle of the road
"That was my house,Youngblood"Billie said pointing,so they cruised around and stuff and then Billie took her somewhere that she didn't expect,the tracks at Christie Road
"Welcome to Christie Road Youngblood"and Anna was suprised that she was even there and he took a picture of her next to the sign that read 'Christie' and Billie went and sat down on the tracks and Anna sat down next to him and he laughed a little and spoke
"I didn't expect that how many years later I would be sitting back here,with my Youngblood"and he was smiling and Anna got up and took a picture of him sitting on the tracks and he spoke
"Y'know how you were use to being up at McKinley alone,well I'm use to being up here alone,damn how is nostalgia so powerful"and Anna spoke
"That is something I ask myself everyday"she said laughing a little bit
"Hey I'm creating better memories with one of my favorite people,that's all I could ask for"he said smiling
"I'm glad Billo"Anna said smiling and he was laughing a little,still
"And seriously how we haven't ran into someone I know around here yet,I don't fucking know"
"Billie don't jinx it"
"Oh shit"he said covering his mouth
"Well fuck"he said laughing
"It's kinda like how you run into people in Tosa,you try not to"
"Oh I get it"and Billie spoke
"It's just really weird being up here"
"I get it and Billie why did you want to show me where you grew up"
"Because I wanted to just show you and because I wanted you to realize that we are a lot more alike then you think Youngblood,always getting high on nostalgia,bad anxiety,wandering around to clear your head and get away,staying under the radar,keeping to yourself in school,growing up in not a good area,avioding running into people that you know,having that one hang out spot you call home and having the million others,being alone a lot,and wanting to get away from where you grew up and yet knowing that you were gonna come back one day and maybe you can have a place to go,when you need to clear your head when you're in California and you can make it your own I don't"
"Dang"and Billie gave her a hug and spoke
"This is my McKinely,where I called home and it means a lot that I get to share it with you Youngblood"he said smiling and Anna now fully understood how much this place actually meant to Billie and she was happy that Billie had a smile on his face because like she has said before, nostalgia can be your best friend or your worst enemy,and there was just something about it that gave Anna the same feeling as when she goes to McKinely and she was now getting high on nostalgia,with a smile on her face,so they chilled there for a little bit then cruised around a little bit on their boards and Billie was skating in front of Anna and he stopped dead and Anna almost crashed into him
"Billie what the hell"she said turning around and he spoke
"I fucking jinxed it"he said face palming himself and someone across the street yelled
"Wait Billie, Billie Joe Armstrong"
"Well to late to run now"Billie said and he yelled back
"Yeah"and the dude ran across the street and spoke
"Well I'll be damned, what are you doing back here"
"Just showing someone around"and the dude looked at Anna
"Who's that"
"That is my buddy's kid and the latest member of Green Day"and Anna could tell that Billie was in no way thrilled to see this guy
"Really,you got a kid in the sell outs now"and Anna spoke
"They aren't fucking sell outs and and honestly just because they wrote a song that almost every teenager in the world could relate to and got big doesn't make them sell outs, and those people who you call sell outs actually saved my fucking life,their music stopped me from ending it"and she pulled off her wristband and showed the guy her scars
"I relapsed again because the guys made sure I got better and they put a smile on my face everyday,and who the hell are you anyway"and Billie was just leaning against his skateboard and had a smirk on his face watching Anna go off on this guy and the dude spoke
"I went to high school with Two Dollar Bill here"and he faced Billie
"Remember the good ole days Billie"and Anna saw Billie's expression and it was full of rage and he had tears in his eyes and  he spoke
"Okay you crossed the line man, do not bring up high school in front of the kid"
"Why, it's just the past"and the dude faced Anna
"Aren't you that Youngblood person"and Billie was ready to knock this dude out
"Her name is Anna and you can mess with me but leave her be and don't fucking talk to her"
"Fine,man but remember all those good times in high school back in the day,remember"and Anna saw the tears in Billie's eyes and she stepped in front of the guy
"Okay leave him the hell alone before I take a fucking skateboard truck to your head"Anna said holding up her board,and the dude laughed and Anna spoke
"You really think I'm fucking joking"and the dude went up to Billie and spoke
"Leave here like you left all those years ago,you wimp"he said jabbing at Billie's chest and Billie grabbed his arm
"Don't fucking touch me"
"Finally fighting back aye Armstrong" and the dude tried to punch Billie, but before he could, Anna hit him in the legs with her board and Anna spoke
"I wasn't fucking joking,leave him alone"and the dude fell to the ground and her and Billie ran back to the car and drove away and on the way back home,Anna spoke
"Billie who was that dude"and Billie sighed
"Y'know how I use to get  my ass kicked for listening to punk rock"
"Yeah"
"Well that dude use to beat me up a lot for it and how much I would love to,you can't go take a skateboard truck to his head"
"Damn it"Anna mumbled under her breath,and Anna saw that Billie had glossy eyes and he spoke
"I swear I was stupid to take you there, I knew I was gonna run into someone"and Billie was speeding and clearly angry at himself,and it was honestly freaking Anna out
"Billie,slow down"and it was like he didn't hear her
"Billie slow down, you're scaring me"and those words hit him hard and he stopped and pulled over and started crying
"I'm sorry Youngblood I should have never taken you back to where I grew up, I knew I was gonna run into someoneI know and something like that was gonna happen, and I scared you"and Anna hugged him
"Billie it's okay,I had fun skating around and hanging out at Christie road and you're not stupid, you just wanted to show me where you grew up,and nostalgia plays a huge part and I get that and I was actually ready to take my board to that dude's head and I get running into people and it's okay,he had no right to upset you or bring up stuff like that,it's okay I had fun, besides that dude"and he just hugged her
"I'm sorry I scared you Youngblood,my mind was racing"he said wipping his eyes
"It's okay Billo"and he gave her a hug
"I'm glad you had fun and liked it"and he was smiling and Anna spoke
"Ice cream"Anna said smiling
"Yeah"Billie said smiling so they headed to Baskin Robbins and got ice cream and walked around a little bit and Anna, to make sure Billie was okay was holding his hand and he had a smile on his face,so that was good and she spoke
"You good Billo"
"Yeah"he said smiling at her
"I'm good Youngblood"
"Good"so eventually they headed back home and Anna was brain storming some ideas and stuff and she was looking at the pictures that her and Billie took today,and she knew that she wanted to do something and she realized that the same nostaglic feeling she had was the state of mind or how she was feeling when she was writing songs,and it was just an impulse or nostalgia nad energy and lyrics were filling up her head,so as quick as should could,wrote them down and about 5 minutes later she had a song and it was like Christie Road reincarnated or something, she mixed her nostalgia and they way her and Billie are the same,the growing up aspect and she had a smile on her face and was ready to go,so she went down in the studio and grabbed Frankie and came up with the chords and it almost kinda sounded like a mix between Christie Road and Still Breathing,but it sounded good,so at full speed she ran back upstairs and found Billie and he saw how excited,happy,and hyper she was,which made him laugh a little
"What's going on Youngblood"he said smiling
"I have a surprise for you"and she grabbed his hand and pulled him up from where he was sitting
"Come on"and Billie was just laughing,so they went down in the studio and Billie sat down on the the couch and Anna spoke
"Close your eyes"
"Okay"and he did and he was still laughing a little and smiling and Anna ran and grabbed 'Frankie' and then stood in front of Billie,from a distance and she jumped into her new song and she saw Billie open his eyes and he sat there with a smile of his face,listening to her new song,watching her in awe and when she was done she spoke
"So what do you think"and he got up and gave her a hug and looked down at her
"That was amazing,Youngblood,I love it" and that put a smile on her face
"You wrote a mini Jesus of Suburbia and now a mini Christie Road"and Anna laughed a little
"I guess I did"she said smiling
"C'mon Youngblood,teach me it"he said grabbing Blue,so Anna showed Billie the chords and stuff and they basically just jammed the rest of the day and looked at the time and Anna spoke
"Holy shit how long have we been playing" and Billie spoke
"I don't even know"he said laughing a little,so they headed back upstairs and saw Adrienne in the living room and she spoke
"You guys were jamming almost all day,have fun"
"Yep"Anna said smiling
"Youngblood wrote a new,amazing song"Billie said smiling,and Adrienne spoke
"Really"
"Yep"and Anna spoke
"Race ya upstairs"
"You're on Youngblood"so they both bolted up the stairs and Billie won
"Victory" and they both headed out on the ledge and watched the sunset
"Dang that's pretty"Anna said in awe
"Yeah it is Youngblood"Billie said smiling and it was only like in the high 50's,so kinda chilly
"Damn this is like Wisconsin weather in like October"and Anna climbed back in her room and grabbed her Rev Rad hoodie and went downstairs and grabbed Billie's and climbed back out the window and handed Billie his hoodie
"Thanks Youngblood"
"Yep"so they just chilled on the ledge,talking and star gazing and eventually they climbed back in the window at like almost midnight and Billie went to bed and Anna wanted to skate,so she grabbed her board and as quietly as possible,snuck out to the backyard and started skating around and practicing her flat ground tricks and she did that for a couple hours,and she just sat down and relaxed and star gazed,and she was so worn out that she accidently passed out, so at like six in the morning, Billie woke up and went to check on Anna,so headed to her room and knocked on the door,no answer,so he went in
"Youngblood"and he didn't see her,so he checked out on the ledge,wasn't there,so he checked the studio,not there,living room,not there,kitchen,no there,so he went out in the backyard and saw Anna passed out on one of the lawn chairs,with her skateboard next to her and holding her phone and earbuds in her ears and he saw was she was listening to, Stop Drop and Roll!! and he started laughing,but not loud enough to wake her up,so he went and grabbed the polaroid and took a picture of her passed out,so he set the camera down and went over by her and shook her a little
"Youngblood,wake up"and she did and yawned and started laughing
"Shit,I fucking passed out here"
"Skated that much,huh"Billie said jokingly
"Yeah"and Anna saw the camera
"Don't tell me you took a picture of me passed out"
"Guilty"Billie said laughing
"Really Billo"
"What it was cute and funny"he said raising his arms in defense,laughing
"Okay"
"So I'm guessing Stop Drop and Roll!! is some really good skate music"
"Yep"so they headed back inside and Billie made coffee and Anna hopped up on the counter
"My dad still with Rodney"
"Pretty sure"
"Damn"Anna said laughing
"Why am I not suprised"and Billie handed her a cup of coffee and hopped up on the counter next to her
"So what should do today Youngblood"
"Skating actually sound pretty good"
"Wanna go hang out with Stacy and skate"
"You already know the answer to that"she said smiling
"Sounds good to me"so Anna called up Stacy and he of course was totally up to the idea,so Anna went and got ready and grabbed her board and Billie was smiling
"What Billo"
"Nothing just you"so Anna went outside in the backyard and practiced some more,while Billie got ready,so once he was good,they left and Anna had a smile on her face the whole time,which made Billie smile,so they got to Powell Peralta Skate Shop and headed in and Stacy was right there behind the counter
"Hey guys"
"Hi Stacy"Anna said smiling
"So you ready to skate"
"When am I not"
"Good answer"Stacy said laughing a little and so was Billie,so they went out in the parking lot and just skated and messed around and had fun for at least like two hours and Stacy spoke
"Since you guys are still working on the movie,you guys are more than welcome to use the set where we shot the Bones Brigade movie"and Anna spoke
"Okay,one,I am not worthy,and two,that is gonna make my dad's mind explode"and Billie and Stacy were just laughing,and Billie could tell that Anna was trying so hard not to lose her shit,in a good way,so all she did was express her feelings through skating and she was smiling like an idiot and spoke
"It just makes me happy and smile that you still skate at your age"she said at Stacy and he spoke
"Always,and it makes me happy watching teh next generation of skaters,or kids like you that love old school stuff"he said smiling so he showed her some old school stuff and she pulling off some Zephyr shit and was practicing her flat ground stuff and she was pulling some Rodney level stuff,just skating it up and Stacy was watching her in awe and spoke
"It's like watching a mini Rodney"and Anna stopped dead in her tracks,well wheels and laughed a little and spoke
"M-My dad is out skating with him right now"and Billie just looked at her a little confused,because she stuttered and he spoke
"Youngblood you stuttered"and she spoke
"When people say something like that to me and I am in disbelief, excited and happy, I stutter,nothing bad"
"Okay"so Anna was skating some more,so was Stacy and Billie was just cruising around and she stopped and pulled out her phone and spoke
"I need some tunes"and of course she turns on Stop Drop and Roll!! and Billie laughed a little,so between the motivation,drive,and happiness and some quatlity skate music,she was skating it up like no tomorrow,she doesn't even need a skate park and Stacy was just watching her and he was thinking that,it was just like watching Rodney,almost and he spoke
"If you would have been alive during Bones Brigade,you would have been on that team right next to Rodney"and her face said it all,and she spoke
"Um back when my dad was 13,he was doing everything that they were doing here with skateboarding, except in Wisconsin and he was so good every skater in the city knew his name and there was a demo up in Heartland or something and if his mom gave him a ride,he swear that he could have been pro,I wouldn't be here,but hey he'd be happy"and Stacy looked at her and spoke
"Really,he could have been pro,if only he got a ride"
"Yeah,like he had every new trick that came out in Thrasher down in a couple hours,after it being released and he has a similar mind set as Rodney and chiildhood,so who knows how far he could have gone"and Stacy spoke
"You have that similar way of thinking,that creative mindset,I see it in you,I meant it when I said it was like looking at a mini Rodney,you got the skating,creative mindset,you're easily amused,you are humble,down to earth,and you don't know or realize the impact you've made"and she had the biggest smile on her face
"I just remembering hearing that Rodney was a really shy kid,um I was the shyest kid in my class and how I was in school,I had a similar personality as Rodney,because I just kept to myself and restricted myself from showing the teachers what I really had,like how Rodney was in competitions,I didn't really talk to a lot of people"and Stacy spoke
"It's good that Rodney's mentoring you,I'm happy that he is"and she was smiling so much,it hurt,which has never happened,maybe,and she literally couldn't stop smiling,she could have passed as stoned,so she just kept skating like no tomorrow and Stacy snuck away and got his video camera and started recording Anna skate it up and Anna was so distracted and eventually Stacy handed Billie the camera and went and skated with Anna and so Billie was capturing a skate legend and film maker and a 14 year old punk rocker, skater, and a few minutes later, Anna eventually saw the camera and just for fun
"Yapple Dapple"she said looking right at the camera,and Stacy got a kick outta that,so after about another hour of good skating, Billie gave Stacy his camera back and they headed back into the shop and hung out and messed around and of course Stacy ended up breaking some stuff and Anna just died laughing,and people who came into the shop their face's were priceless,members of Green Day,in Powell Peralta Skate Shop,so Anna talked skate and music with a good amount of people and helped people pick out some stuff, and Stacy was talking to Billie about some stuff and Anna's skating,and Anna stepped outside and called her dad,to see what he was doing
"Hi dad"
"Hey kiddo,how you doing"
"Good"
"Good,what are you and Billie doing"
"Just skating and hanging out with Stacy,you still with Rodney"
"Yeah"
"Okay"and Anna was smiling,thinking about what Stacy said
"I'm about to make your day,besides skating with Rodney"
"Hmh"
"Stacy watched me skate and said it was just like watching a mini Rodney,said we are more than welcome to use where they shot Bones Brigade,and that if I would have been alive during Bones Brigade,that I would have been on that team right next to Rodney"
"Holy shit kiddo,really"
"Yeah,I can't stop smiling"
"Well that's good,bye kiddo"
"Bye"and she hung up and went back by Stacy and Billie and Stacy was laughing and Anna spoke
"What's so funny"and he spoke
"Billie told me how he found you passed out in the backyard,because you stayed up skating"and Anna gave Billie a stupid look and so they said bye to Stacy and left a little bit later,and it was a really good day indeed,going to Christie Road,hanging out with Stacy and skating and stuff,and Anna was so worn out that she passed out on the way back home,so clearly a good day.
