Mercedes's POV

It was Friday. At school the history teacher once again made me put my bag up by his desk. I pulled my desk next to Paxton and Trent pulled his next to mine.

Ever since the day at Paxton's i kept acting weird towards Devi. I regretted doing that with Paxton to where i was loosing sleep at night, and coming to school looking like a bum.

"You don't ever wear sweatpants this many days what's wrong?" Paxton asked me and i slammed my head against the desk.

"Nothing." I mumbled while shoving my face into the desk.

"You're lying."

"I'm not."

"You always dress nice. You're starting to get bags under your eyes and when you get the chance to sleep at lunch you pass out real quick."

"How do you know i sleep at lunch."

"I saw you. But seriously. Devi is dressing nicer than you." I kept my head facing down and my arms where crossed in my lap. "You look nice today Devi." I heard Paxton say.

I immediately shot up, and looked back at Devi. She looked at me and smiled.

"HE SAID YOU LOOK GOOD." I mouthed to Devi.

"BITCH I KNOW!" She mouthed back.

I started laughing and the teacher started glaring at me. He gave me the face is, "do your work now." Which we weren't even doing our work in the first place.

Devi
HE JUST TEXTED ME AND ASKED IF I CAN COME OVER. HE NEVER DOES!

Mercedes
ILL GIVE YOU A DAMN RIGHT GIRL.

Devi
Can i just come over to your house after? I'll text my mom and ask if i can stay at your house. You live across the street anyway.

Mercedes
Perfect. Just let me know everything. You can invite Fabiola, and Eleanor.

"It's going to be fun Devi." I turned around and said to her.

She smiled at me and asked Fabiola and Eleanor about it. They both looked at me and gave me a thumbs up.

"Mercedes. Can you come up here?" Mr. Shapiro called for my name. I got up and tried to slip out of the chair even though i was between Paxton and Trent.

"You needed me?" I said. He pulled up an empty chair from a desk off to the side, and motioned me to sit.

I looked over to Paxton and Trent laughing at me. I glared at him, and looked at the teacher.

"You're behavior." I rolled my eyes. I already know where this is going. "How far are you with the project even?"

"The book is read."

"It's only been like 5 days."

I nodded. "I read the book in middle school."

"Anything else?" I shook my head. "Also, you sleeping in class needs to stop. You need to actually sleep at night."

No one actually knows why i struggle sleeping at nights, and some nights i don't. Like i said earlier. My dad has always been the one to travel. He always lets me know when he's getting on the plane and when he lands. So those long nights i usually have i'm usually waiting for me dad to land and tells me he's okay.
