Chapter 74

Asher's POV

I kick the door shut behind me as I have a bag of groceries in one and and my phone in the other. I pull up my contacts and call Camila as I head to the kitchen, "Hey" She answers. 

"Hello fucker, how you doing?", we're definitely going back to normal but not exactly, It will never be the same after mum passed but we try, which is why I'm calling her names and joking around with her like I would before. 

"I'm good and you?"

"Good, just back from work",  I tell her. It was such a long day and I had to run to the store because I have nothing in my damn refrigerator. 

"Guess who's back", She says barely. 

"Uhm...", Am I supposed to know this or I'm I just blatantly guessing. 

"Ace", She answers not allowing me to guess. I haven't heard his name in so long. Five years I haven't seen him. Sometimes I want to pick up the phone and call but would that make me a shit brother, I shouldn't want to speak to him after he slept, cheated and impregnated my little sister, on top of that he left her and shattered her heart. 

"Oh..." I say before continuing, "How do you know?" 

"I ran into him the other day and he just came by today", she tells me. I can't tell if she's happy about it or not. 

"What did he want?" 

"Seeing how i am, he asked how you were too", does he want me to call or is he just being nice and actually doesn't. I've known him my entire life and this past five years is the longest we've spent time apart. No much wonder people thought we were gay and girls we slept with would make jokes, we were always together.  I've missed my best friend but..things change and so do people. 

"Hm", Is all I manage to say. 

She sighs, "Anyway, I have to continue to pack. Are you still helping this weekend?"

"Yeah, I'm leaving Friday night", I probably would've left in the morning but I have work and can't afford to miss. 

"Okay well, I'll talk to you later" 

"Cam.." 

"Yeah?" 

"Don't fall into his trap again", I want to be a good brother and I don't want to watch her heart break after all the heartbreak she has had in almost six years. From the very first day at college to now. 

"Shut up, Asher", She says and hangs up. 

It gives me joy hearing my sister fighting back, she's definitely getting better but I know she's still upset and I've seen her lose weight drastically. I always convince her to eat when we're on facetime so I know she's actually eating.

"Hey", Cam says through the facetime call. 

"Hey", I say placing my phone down. 

"George, Brad and Ace have been helping me a lot with packing and moving stuff", She blurts out. 

All my movements stop, all of them? "All of them?" I repeat my thoughts out loud. 

"Lillian insisted", A thin pressed smile appears on her face.

I nod, "Have you went to any viewings of apartments?" 

"Nope, but when everything is cleared out I think I'll stay with Lillian because she offered", she seems nervous to tell me. 

"Lillian's...where Ace is?"
