Waking up

Cody stared at Barris as she slept, it had been a whole week since order 66 and since then they had managed to claim Curosaunt in the name of the new republic. Cody had been able to take leave for the days he was visiting her, though he still did his work his men noted a favorable change from the usual uptight behavior they had grown to both hate and admire. 

Cody ran a hand through his hair as he remembered that morning's briefing, mainly talking about the Jedi and allies they had lost or gone missing. Luminara Unduli, Mace Windu and Kit Fisto were among the names of the missing or dead. he was not looking forward to telling Barris that her master was MIA, he had enough trouble trying not to chicken out of what he needed to do the moment she woke up. 

her bandages had finally come off revealing a large but almost invisible scar that went from her right cheek to the middle of her forehead, it looked more like she had been hit with someone playing with green paint than a scar to him. though the first time he saw it that was his first impression, that was until one of the med droids informed him of the severity of her wounds. 

He flinched slightly as pain erupted up his right hand that was now wrapped firmly as to stop his broken knuckles from harming his hand more, the result of his and Bly's conversation which felt like years ago now. 

Cody had managed to swindle a chair next to her bed, though it had recently become more like his bed as he spent almost every night in that room. 

He gently rubbed her hand with his slightly broken as he went back to his datapad, he smirked at the latest report from Chopper Chuchi. The pain in the ass clone now resembled a well-groomed officer, though Cody suspected that there might have been some encouragement on Rio's part. 

Chopper's report was mainly about the whereabouts of Commanders Rex and Ahsoka Tano, He smiled at the memory of General  Shaak Ti scaring the crap out of everyone when she found out her daughter was missing. 

Master Yoda was the only one who was not afraid of the pissed-off Togruta woman. 

"you look dead" came a familiar hoarse voice of Barris Offee. 

Cody jumped out of his chair, the data pad crashing to the floor and breaking as he did. 

"Barris!!" Cody yelled in delight before he pulled her into a tight hug. 

Her body relaxed into his fitting perfectly in his arms as she wrapped hers around his neck, he noted how shakey she seemed to be before he noticed that her front was pressed against his. he had to close his eyes to try and keep calm as thoughts of some of his more heated dreams came rising to the front of his mind. 

Cody managed to gently lay her back down on her bed before he opened his eyes again. 

When he did he finally caught sight of something that made him both sick to his stomach and full of rage once again. 

Her right eye was now a bionic one, Cody had to give the droid some credit though if he wasn't inches away from her face he would not be able to tell the difference. 

Inches from her........

Cody's face went from its customary shade to bright red in an instant. 

"Cody?' Barris whispered her face slowly turning a darker shade of green, "I uh......" Cody couldn't move his whole body frozen in a mix of fear and curiosity. 

His hand acted of its own accord as it brushed against her cheek gently moving a stray hair behind her ear. 

Cody suddenly found his face inching closer to hers but what surprised him was the realization that she was moving closer to his face as well. 

Their lips were only centimeters away when the door to the hospital room opened with a very annoyed-looking Bly. 

Cody and Barris jumped away from each other the moment the door opened, both of their faces blushing madly. 

"WHY THE HELL HAVENT YOU BEEN RESPONDING TO COMMS!!!!" Bly yelled slightly terrifying Cody for a second before returning to his normal mode. 

"my coms were turned off I wanted some time to talk to Barris befo-" Cody didn't finish his sentence before Bly's head whipped to the hospital bed. 

"BARRIS!!!! AYLA SHES AWAKE!!!" Bly yelled causing Barris to jump. 

Ayla rushed into the room as fast as she could before pulling Barris into a tight hug, Ayla was now ready to pop but that still didn't stop her from hugging the young padawan.

 Bly smiled at his wife before pulling her off gently, he glanced at Cody and Barris before realization dawned on him. Now his face was full of embarrassment before Ayla said something that snapped all the attention back to her. 

"they did a wonderful job with your eye my dear it almost looks like the real thing" Cody gulped at the response to the words that came out of Barris's mouth. 

"What do you mean almost like the real thing?"
