The Rising

Cody rubbed his temple as Barris slept against his chest, she had been cuddled up against him trying to keep warm in the cold ship.

His head and the rest of his body was throbbing slightly but he still kept a possessive arm around her waist, her nose was inches from his throat so he could feel the heat from her breath as she exhaled in her sleep.

This trip was beginning to take it's toll on him as had to resist the urge to keep pulling her close to him Everytime a night sister walked by, his old instincts telling him to keep his guard up and gun at the ready.

"Cody" Barris whispered her voice a little raspy from sleep as she began to stir slightly, Cody smiled slightly before he kissed her forehead and whispered softly "go back to sleep Cyare, I'll keep you safe".

He could feel the heat radiating off her cheeks before he felt a soft kiss on his throat, he smiled brightly realizing that she was too tired and far to comfortable to try and move to his lips.

Barris on the other hand nuzzled into the crook of his neck and pulled her legs up and over his lap causing him to pull her so she was cuddled on his lap in a perfect little ball. Cody wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled happily into her hair, he noticed it had grown longer and, despite the dust from the fight, was shiney. He couldn't help himself from toying with it as she drifted off to sleep, not only calm her down, but him as well when he spotted Ventris walking towards them.

"Your stop is coming soon......you two do realize it's in the middle of nowhere right?" Ventress  said her arms firmly crossed Infront of her chest.

"I'm well aware....." Cody replied his grip on Barris increasing slight as he tried to calm himself down.

Ventress simply rolled her eyes and continued to speak, "I get you don't trust me clone, but you did save my life and the night sisters. So this ride makes us even since I assume you don't want anyone to know where you are going as well".

Cody glared at her, his hand edging towards his blaster slightly as they started each other down.

Ventress gave him a 'your kidding me right' look before she turned around and walked back into the cockpit leaving Cody and Barris relatively alone. He didn't want to risk anything happening in both his and Barris's weakened state, she didn't show it but the fight with the former Jedi master had taken a lot out of her. Especially now when she could not chanel the force or even his life force.

His arm twitched slightly out of pain before he returned to stroking her hair, his forehead pounding slightly more than before from his headache.

"Cody" Barris whispered as she felt his arm twitch again, her worry slightly growing from his lack of response. "Cody, are you ok?" She whispered gently as she looked up at him full of fear.

Cody smiled slightly, though a little pained before he used his free hand to tuck her back under his chin, "I'm fine Cyare, I just need to get us somewhere safe, then we can sleep for the rest of the day" he muttered as he returned to stroking her hair, his eyes slowly closing as he inhaled her scent.

His body relaxed slightly before he felt drowsiness slowly taking hold, Cody's hand slipped slightly before he woke himself back up slightly startled.

Glancing around at the cabin he noticed that the night sisters that where there were not even paying attention to him. He let out a small breath of relief before he returned to stroking Barris hair, her breathing told him she had fallen asleep again but he was still worried.

Rex had told him all about Koon village, a small hidden village in which Rex and Ahsoka had built their home. But Cody was still concerned, he had given Ventress the right planet to set down on, though he still did not trust her enough to show a group of ex sith allies where his brothers would soon call home after the war was over.

He was so consumed in his thoughts that he barely felt Barris stiffen slightly before he heard Ventress speak.

"We are almost to your drop off location, you might want to wake up sleeping beauty" she practically yelled from the cockpit.

Cody looked from the cockpit then to his sleeping beauty that was curled in his lap, she flinched seconds before Ventress had yelled. He had only seen that when she was in training at the temple, His stomach turned painfully from a mix of worry and fear before he closed his eyes and kissed her forehead gently.

His arm almost crushed her to his chest when he began to feel the decent of the ship through the planets atmosphere then he felt some kind of electric current run through him.

It wasn't unpleasant but it rattled him slightly as Barris began to stir and sit up in his lap.

"Are we there yet?" She muttered as Cody rubbed the small of her back gently, his face quickly turning from a fear filled face to a loving one at the sight of her stirring form.

"Almost, Cyare" Cody's voice was soft as he spoke. Barris smiled and yawned deeply before they felt the familiar shudder of the ship as it landed.

Cody grinned at Barris, who in turn narrowed her eyes at him not trusting the sudden giddy nature. Then without warning he picked her up in a carry and began to walk off the ship and into the forest towards their new home.

Hoping no surprises would follow them as they did.
