The Rising

Call to duty part 2

Cody lay with his stomach to the ground as the commando droids slowly crept into his sights.

"They are in the zone Cut" Cody whispered into the coms.

"Roger that" Cuts reply came as Cody fiddled with the sights on his rifle.

"Four on my side,.......are yours coming in single file?" Cut replied 

Cody chuckled slightly into the radio before he replied "yep the six I have are marching single file ......think it's bad programming"

"Na.....they are just excited" cut replied making Cody shake his head slightly at the older clone's reaction.

Cody smiled slightly as he squeezed the trigger of the weapon. 

Clank.

Clank.

Clank.

Clank.

Clank.

Clank.

Cody smiled slightly as the six commando droids fell to the ground completely disarmed. 

"I'm done.....how are you fairing?" Cody asked through the coms as he got to his feet and dusted himself and his weapon free of the weeds he had used to hide. 

"Been done forever....whatcha been doing? washing your hair?"

"Least I have some" Cody replied as he shook his head and took to a slight jog in the direction of the droids. 

"Four down" Cut's voice rang through the coms "You need any help checking your kid?" 

"doing it now" Cody replied back before finishing "Ya nag"

"heard that" Cut replied making Cody wince slightly before he spotted a strange silver glint in the grass next to the droids. 

"Hang on.....there is something here" Cody replied as he completely ignored the droids and began to hone in on the strange object. 

He reached down and picked up a strange tablet-looking device, the device was stuck on one function the navigation section. 

"Hey Cut.....How many droids you take down?" Cody asked as he looked at the device in horror. 

"Four......you having a hard time counting or what?" Cut replied. 

"There were a lot more droids on that ship cut......and they aren't after us" Cody replied as he stared at the map on the tablet. 

"What? How do you know that?" Cut replied. 

"Because they are after the village......they were never after clones......." Cody replied as he started running towards the village his heart hammering in his ears as he did.

It didn't take long for him to get close enough to the village to see smoke rising from the clearing, his mind spun dangerously as he pushed himself to go faster. 

"CODY! STOP!" Cut yelled, but it sounded muffled to Cody as he kept running, almost plowing into Cut as he did. 

Cut in turn wrestled the panicking Clone to the ground, somehow managing to pin his arms behind his back as Cody lay face down on the forest floor. 

"LET ME GO!!!" Cody yelled, struggling with all his might as he did.

"Calm down!" Cut whisper yelled as he breathed hard, trying his best to calm himself down as he did.

"THEY HAVE HER!!!!" Cody yelled his voice slightly muffled in the dirt. 

"We don't know that yet, and going in guns blazing isn't going to help us" Cut interjected.

"There is smoke at the village" Cody mumbled slightly his anger subsiding slightly. 

"I know.....believe me, I know" Cut replied his grip softening slightly as he took a deep breath himself. 

"Let me go Cut" 

"Calm down first and I will....cuz if you don't calm down I'm tieing you to a tree" Cut's reply automatically made Cody stop squirming. 

"Ok"

Cut looked down at the clone with a slight shock-filled face, not quite believing the clone before he slowly let the younger clone up. 

"What is the plan?" Cody asked, his eyes still fixed on the spot where Kloon village was through the trees. 

"The village will probably be surrounded, so we will have to sneak in under the dark" Cut replied nodding towards the sun that was high in the sky. 

"NO" Cody replied "By then they would be killed or worse, we have to sneak into the village now". 

"Do you want to be tied to a tree?'' Cut asked highly annoyed by the babbling clone. 

"No...just listen........The house we were building that was backed up against the tree line, is close enough that we could sneak there and then get the layout of the droids outpost........and pick up some munitions" Cody mumbled the last part earning a nasty glair. 

"You brought weapons into the village.......and you didn't tell me" Cut's voice sounded hurt slightly before he shook his head. 

"ok..........probably not the best idea I know.....but they are technically Rex's not mine" Cody added sheepishly earning a disapproving glair from Cut. 

"I got his permission.....kinda" Cody replied, "look the point is we have more ammo, we have a sniper's nest....kinda, and we have a plan".

"even if that worked we don't know where they are." Cut replied trying to keep his cool. 

Cody on the other hand winced slightly as he rubbed the back of his neck "I might have a solution to that". 

Cut looked at Cody with slight confusion before he finally figured out what he meant. 

"YOU LO-JACKED YOUR FIANCEE!!!!" Cut yelled making Cody automatically shush him. 

"No...just the bracers she wears" Cody admitted earning a very disapproving glare from Cut. 

"Nice trust kid" 

"Ok, so I put trackers on my ex-Jedi girlfriend so that no sith psycho would take her and turn her into a mindless pawn...again" Cody ranted his chest heaving slightly.

Cut looked a little taken aback before shaking his head "Not the point.... 'd love to give you a lecture but we really don't have time and I'd rather let Sue give you that lecture" 

Cody laughed nervously before Cut walked past him towards the Village.
