Rex took a deep breath as he looked at the tie fighters in front of him.

"Rexy?".

Rex's head turned around slightly to catch sight of a very raged-looking Ahsoka, He immediately turned to pull her into a close embrace.

"It's weird" Ahsoka began as she spoke into his chest "Not being able to go with you on this mission. I had always thought we would be together when we finally deal with the Sith".

Rex smiled as he kissed the top of her head "Don't worry, I'll bring some sith home in a doggie bag for you".

Ahsoka giggled slightly before Rex pulled her into a deep and powerful kiss.

"oh that is just gross"

Rex smiled slightly in the kiss as he heard Echo and Fives approach, Instead of pulling away he simply held Ahsoka closer. Not yet willing to let the real world back in for another moment or two.

Ahsoka blushed slightly as she wrapped her arm around his neck. Rex's hand moved from the small of her back to her stomach gently massaging it as he did.

"eh hem"

Rex finally pulled away from his wife and turned to glare at the new commander, only to grin broadly as Ahsoka shouted in glee before letting Rex go in favor of hugging the newcomer.

Plo laughed as he happily hugged Ahsoka back, "It is good to see you little un" Plo stated half laughing.

"We thought the worst" Ahsoka stated.

"Oh don't worry little un, it will take a lot more than a couple of machines to kill me. Besides, I have been given a much more important mission" Plo stated as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small crystal.

"so your not going into the fight?" Rex asked as he gently grabbed Ahsoka's flight jacket and placed it around her shoulders letting his hands rest there, Ahsoka only responded by stepping back into his embrace so his hands rested comfortably on her stomach and her back pressed to his front.

"No, I will be in charge of the Arcum, the ship that will be holding the Jedi younglings to the new temple that we have been able to dig up from the archives. Your mother will be accompanying me along with yourself". Plo replied as he placed the crystal back into his pocket.

"What? I thought I'd be able to stay here and help direct the fighting?" Ahsoka looked back at Rex who looked both relieved and worried.

Plo on the other hand managed to force out the next few words "Your mother thought it best".

Ahsoka gripped Rex's arm tightly as he held her closer, "But...".

Rex gently rested his forehead against the back of her head, in his mind he knew that it was the wisest and the safest option. Sending the younglings and the last of the Jedi who would not be able to fight it would ensure the continuation of the Jedi order.

"Ahsoka"

"No...I'm not going"

Rex held her tighter before he turned her around and hugged her tightly. "Ahsoka, you have to go with them."

"No, I do-"

"Ahsoka, please" Rex interrupted her halfway through her sentence, "You need to watch after our children. Curosaunt might be able to survive them but I'm not sure a ship will." Ahsoka laughed slightly as she began to cry, her tears seeping into his flight suit as Rex kissed her forehead "I love you so much Cyare. But I can't fly into danger knowing that you will not be protected".

Fives and Echo who were standing near the fighter walked forward slightly as Plo coughed getting the attention of Rex. When Rex looked up Plo could see he was on the verge of tears.
