Retaking the planet

Cody looked into the small fire as dawn slowly dripped through the cracks and holes in the wall, one hand on his blaster and the other gently rubbing Barris's hand as she slept. 

He had been like this for at least a couple of hours now, just waiting as his mind wandered. 

Barris flinched slightly in her sleep causing Cody to glance at her form before squeezing gently and smiling lightly. 

"C.....Cody" Barris mumbled as she stirred a little more, Cody practically jumped out of his skin when she said his name. 

"Hey...I'm right here" he mumbled quietly as he pulled her into his lap gently careful to not hurt her wounds. 

Barris's eyes slowly making Cody grin ear to ear, "hey sleepyhead" he whispered gently checking the bandage. Barris smiled shyly before her hand touched his gently, "how....how long have I been.." her voice was cracked and dry making her cough harshly, Cody hushed her gently before handing her a small bowl of water. 

"drink this" Cody whispered, mentally making a note to thank Volt for finding the small water pump halfway through the night. Barris happily drank the cool liquid before she tried to speak again "How long have I been out?". 

"Just for one night, you seem to be attracting all the danger to you though" Cody answered just before he kissed her nose "how do you feel?". 

"like I've been hit by that droid factory again" she mumbled cuddling into his blackies "what happened to your armor?". 

"left it behind, besides we are undercover right, might as well change into the clothes of the natives" Cody whispered as Barris shivered a little, "Cold?" he asked worried as he tightened his arms around her trying to keep her warm. 

She shook her head "no....someone is coming" she whispered her eyes fixated on the door, Cody moved quickly putting out the fire in a smooth movement, and moved Barris to the small dark corner before handing her lightsabers and sitting in front of her. His blackies giving him some camouflage as he aimed his blaster to the door, ready for a fight. 

Volt soon stumbled through the door trying to shut it as quickly and as quietly as he could, his chest heaving as he scrambled to get down. He soon caught Cody's eye before mouthing 'Clankers', Barris grabbed the back of Cody's shirt so she could have more stability as she peered out of one of the large blaster holes in the wood. 

Her eyes caught sight of at least fifty combat clankers, no doubt with reinforced armor, they seemed to be marching past them. Completely unaware of their being in the small Farmhouse. 

Cody could feel her handshake slightly before he reached behind and gently squeezed her knee, trying to calm her down. 

Volt huffed quietly trying desperately to quieten his heavy breathing, Cody glanced behind him to make sure she was ok when they heard it. 

"Overthere" 

"JEDI!!!" 

Barris jumped up ready to run into the fight when Cody pulled her back down, "shhhhh," Cody whispered as he pulled her back down, out of sight. His instincts telling him that they weren't firing at them. 

Barris hid her face in Cody's shirt her eyes closed, reaching out with the force. 

She felt the droids being shot and slashed to pieces as she felt four normal humans in the force and a Jedi. 

Barris's eyes snapped open meeting Codys "you are not going to believe this" she whispered as the team outside continued their assault.
