AFTER THEIR OUTBURSTS IN THE library, Rebecca hadn't heard more than a single word in parting from either Cedric nor Adrienne. She'd see them, of course, usually on their way to, from, or within their lessons, but they'd both find ways to turn down the opposite corridor with slight scowls – as if she were the one to cause their spat. Still, despite being at crossroads with her best friends, Rebecca wasn't going to chase after them if they wouldn't give her the time of day. It's just not who she was. She had kept to her studies, as per customary, tried studying with her dormmates when they offered – but usually, she'd find herself spending more and more time alongside the Weasleys, Lee, Hermione, and Harry Potter.

And seeing as they were just a day and a half shy of the big Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw match, even Oliver was inclined to sit amongst his team at times.

"What's got Ron so upset?" Rebecca questioned George in the lowest voice she could muster, peering up at the boy perched on the sofa's armrest as she broke off a piece of her Peppermint Toad to pop into her mouth.

"His rat," The younger twin uttered, giving an eye roll and a sigh, "in complete shambles over it biting the dust."

"Come on Ron, you were always saying how boring Scabbers was," Fred stated boredly from the Ravenclaw's other side, offering his brother a meek look of sympathy, "and he's been off-color for ages, he was wasting away. It was probably better for him to snuff it quickly – one swallow – he probably didn't feel a thing."

"Fred!" Both Ginny and Rebecca exclaimed indignantly, the latter giving him a gentle but prompt bent elbow into his side.

"All he did was eat and sleep, you said it yourself Ron," George added with a nod.

"He bit Goyle for us once!" Ron stated miserably, almost brought to tears as he wallowed in his seat on the squashy scarlet armchair, "Remember, Harry?"

"Yeah, that's true," Harry nodded gently, flashing a weak smile at his best friend to ease his emotions.

"His finest hour," Fred nodded diligently, still doing his best to not express his utter amusement, "Let the scar on Goyle's finger stand as a lasting tribute to his memory."

Rebecca chewed her bottom lip to suppress her threatening grin, trying far harder for Ron's sake than his own brother was. Fred, having spotted the peeking smile, only grinned wider to himself and set his arm around the back of the sofa behind her before turning back to his mopey baby brother.
