IN THE DAYS LEADING up to Christmas Day, after having sent the letter to Roan with the help of a willing Hedwig, Rebecca was sure to keep by a window at all times – scouring the skies, day and night, for a sight of the incoming snowy white owl. When she was needed, whether by Moody and The Order for yet another session or by Mrs.Weasley or even Remus to go eat or just get out of her room for a while; she knew that she could keep the trust that the twins and Harry kept a lookout for her as well. By Christmas Eve, the entirety of 12 Grimmauld Place was nearly unrecognizable. It had seemed that while all others were asleep, Sirius Black would take to decorating and cleaning up the apartment with insomniac episodes.

The tarnished chandeliers were no longer filled and wisped with dusty cobwebs, rather, now donning long garlands of fresh holly and gold and silver streamers that connected to each corner of the room then towards the middle of it. Much like back in the Great Hall, the ceiling was enchanted to look like a day of thick snowfall, never to reach or pile up across the now polished floors. A great Christmas tree – acquired by Mundungus – was decorated with live fairies and shimmering baubles, blocking most of the old family portraits along the walls. Then, they all woke up that very morning to find a stack of presents at the foot of their beds, a cracker or two on the bedside tables just waiting to be pulled.

With a sudden jab to her shoulder, Rebecca was letting out a muffled groan, digging her head further into the fluffy pillows and tugging the duvet further up to her chin. Fred stifled an amused laugh at the blatant stubbornness of his sleepy girlfriend, carefully crawling over her blanket-covered body just to plop down and lay his entire body weight across her. Purposely ruffling his disheveled bed-hair at her nose, grinning smugly when she grumbled and swatted lazily at him, only to begin running her fingers through his red tuffs of hair.

"Wake up," Fred had whined childishly, curling both his arms beneath her back to hug her frame closer to his own and gently rest his chin on her chest, "it's Christmas."

"Yeah, so my present should you letting me have a little lie-in." Rebecca uttered sleepily in return, not bothering to open her eyes or to shove him off of her, her fingers twirling strands of his hair messily.

"No, no more lie-ins for you," He pouted, gently using his thumb and forefinger to peel her left eye open, grinning when she swatted his hands away with a pout of her own, "c'mon, I've got something for you."

"If it's not a gallon's worth of coffee, I'm not sure I want it." She murmured, rubbing harshly at both her sleep-crusted eyes before letting them flicker open to meet his.

"Well, technically, I didn't get it for you, I simply brought it back up to our room," He informed her quietly, laying a sweet peck to her cheek before sliding off of her and then the mattress to stand up once again, "it came earlier, while I was raiding the kitchen for snacks – here."
