SIRIUS ORION BLACK wasn't an easily swayed man

SIRIUS ORION BLACK wasn't an easily swayed man. Towering at 5 foot 11 – maybe 6 foot on a good day – he held his own with arms folded tightly over his chest and his lips pulled just as tight into a firm line across his features. There was no doubt that the man was a true Gryffindor, a stubborn and impulsive lion through and through. Though, perhaps, he was also just as true to his animagus' form – as loyal as a man's best friend. A follower. And perhaps it was the very same reason he had such a hard time in giving into the singular wish his only child had all but begged of him. The wish of going against the words of the very man he had trusted with his life for literal years since his youth.

Sirius Black had felt torn in two. His mind was fuddled and conflicted between wanting to cave in and wanting to rebel; to give the go-ahead and allow his daughter the chance to take back some happiness in her life – versus wanting to remain loyal, to keep his word to Dumbledore when he promised to do all he could to keep her from the public's eye, the promise to himself to keep her safe. Clearly, he was in need of convincing to make up his mind. Unfortunately, he also seemed to have forgotten just how alike Rebecca was to him. Not just in their looks, but in attitude and in her inherited stubborn nature – not to mention she had recruited both Remus and Lyall Lupin into hounding and pestering him as well.

"Don't look at me like that." Sirius uttered lowly at Remus from over the rim of his mug, the steam of his coffee wafting and stinging the inside of his nose as he narrowed his eyes into a pointed look from across the table.

"Don't flatter yourself, Black – I'm not looking at you in some special way." Remus retorted easily, spearing a portion of his omelette to bring up to his mouth, all while still maintaining a careful eye contact.

"You're still looking at me," He grumbled quietly, cocking up an eyebrow pointedly, "quit it.

"Or what?"

Sirius' eyes promptly narrowed further into slits at the mocking question, quickly smothering the threatening curl of his lips as he set his mug down. Remus only grinned – a mere flicker of a smug smirk playing at the corner of his mouth – continuing to eat his meal with the utmost innocence and relishing in the simple fact that he had managed the man speechless once more. The thinly veiled amusement was written across the taller man's features, a mocking eyebrow pushed upward at the continued silence from Sirius Black who sat across from him.

"Well?" Remus hummed, settling his fork down gently before reaching out for Sirius' half-empty mug with a swirling light brown hue – he had definitely added far too much milk and sugar into his coffee – taking a small sip of it as he looked up expectingly, "I'm still waiting, Padfoot."
