TIME FLEW BY IN A blink of an eye, and soon enough, both April and May had passed far sooner than expected. Alongside the end-of-tern exams, the Apparition tests, and then the last task – everything was coming down to an extremely jam-packed last two weeks of term. Rebecca only had so much time to help prepare Harry for the third and final task, and while it was dire, they all had only found the time to begin practicing just at the turn of June. As promised – and ordered by Sirius – she had made an extensive list of effective and easy defensive spells, charms, and hexes to engrain into Harry's arsenal. And even with her stubborn nature, she wouldn't defy the chance to help Harry stay safe just because her father was oblivious to his own actions.
"Don't worry," Hermione stated, peering up from the list the Ravenclaw had made to sooth Harry's worries, "even if you don't end up needing them for the task; at least we'll get top marks in Defense Against the Dark Arts," She smiled brightly, "We'd never have found out about all these hexes in our own classes."
"Good training for when we're all Aurors." Ron grinned excitedly in agreement, trying out the Impediment Curse on a wasp that had buzzed into the room and making it stop dead in midair.
"Alright, listen here –" Rebecca chimed in from the opposite side of the room, having cleared out some desks and a large bookshelves towards the walls so no one would get hurt when thrown back, "this isn't going to be some little game. Harry is here to learn," She gave Ron a firm look before glancing back to the bespectacled boy, "and while I did say I'd do this for you, I want to be sure you'll be taking this seriously and not just here to just muck around."
Harry nodded quickly, already gripping his wand tightly and staring at her expectingly.
"Good, now then – let's begin."
Within the month of June, the atmosphere inside the castle grew tense, as well as full of excitement again. Everybody was looking forward to the third task, having seen the giant hedges that had been grown on the Quidditch pitch, and it'd all take place just a week before the end of term. Rebecca had Harry practicing hexes at every available moment, no matter how many assignments that had piled up on her desk in her dorm – she was determined for him remain safe no matter what came his way within the maze. And luckily enough, he was a quick study and he was feeling far more confident in the final task than before.
Additionally, having grown tired of finding the four students in various different empty classrooms, Professor McGonagall had given them her permission to stick and stay and practice within the empty Transfiguration classroom at lunchtimes. Thanks to Rebecca, Harry had managed to master the Impediment Curse; for slowing and obstructing attackers, and the Reductor Curse; which would enable them to blast through solid objects. Hermione even suggested – since the task was a maze – for him to learn the Four-Point Spell, that'd allow his wand to always point North and keep his direction on course.
