THE DAYS HAD TURNED FROM August to September in what felt like a blink of the eye. The time flew by quickly without much notice, an 'X' covering each passing day on the puppy calendar that hung on the fridge within the flat's kitchen. Though, Diagon Alley had long become vacant and scarce as the nights grew longer and colder, less and less people had ventured out of the safety of their homes. The inhabitants of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes had begun steering clear of windows, avoiding being seen from the lanes below at all costs. It seemed that there had been a trickle of visitors trying to hide within the shadows or below awnings across the way. The lurkers never stayed the same, each of them with varying hair colours and skin tones; yet all were dressed in dark, billowing robes.

On the first of September, usually a very happy day within the Wizarding world, there were far more lurkers within the deserted alley than usual. Making rounds down the cobbled lanes and cornering the shop over and over again, staring – waiting – for a mere glimpse of those within the orange-painted walls. Those within the flat had come to the conclusion that their stalkers were waiting for them to leave their home. Hoping that they'd leave the flat and lead them to the Golden Trio; to Harry.

It wasn't till it the beginning of October when Molly Weasley had enough of the scattered letters over the span of a few days and half-enthusiastic words of reassurance from her sons. The matriarch was well worried about them being away from home, and rightfully so, but she was far too close to apparating herself to the already-crowded flat and promptly moving in that the twins had no other choice but to go and see their mother.

Though, seeing as the apparition point in the flat was just before the top of winding staircase into the shop below, their girls were to stay home. The twins weren't willing to risk any of them being seen on the off-chance the Disillusionment Charms they'd place would fail or be countered – and especially not with their constant group of spectators waiting just outside and with their noses practically pressed up against the shop's windows.

"I'll be back before you know it, okay?" Fred's voice wafted from across the room, his eyes trained on his girlfriend leaning up against the headboard of their bed, a novel on her lap, "we've just got to go calm Mum down."

The dark-haired witch peered up from the novel, her fingertips still prodding the pages as she met her boyfriend's eyes and simply gave a nod to acknowledge his words. Tucking her knees up a bit more, pulling up the duvet as she did so, she watched him cross the room to stand at the bedside. Fred climbed up slightly, resting a knee atop the mattress as he leaned over and pressed a gentle kiss to her temple. Rebecca's eyes involuntarily fluttered shut, a small shudder running its course down her spine at the feeling of his lips on her head – feeling a small weight lifting from her shoulders as he lingered.
