IT WAS ONLY THE FOLLOWING morning when, just as the four occupants of the flat above the joke shop had been abruptly stopped from leaving the apartment with a small crash to the far window. They had all gotten dressed and ready, ate a decent breakfast, and were ready to Apparate over to the Lupin household. Almost at once, at the sound of repetitive taps on the kitchen window, four wands were sharply drawn and pointed to the culprit of the sudden noise. Only, it was the Weasley family's owl. Errol stood on the window sill, shaking out his ruffled feathers and hopping around on one foot as he waited impatiently. Giving a loud hoot after another moment of watching the four teenagers just standing around and watching him.

With a slow, short release of breath, Scarlett was the first to begin lowering her pointed wand, George following in suit. Fred broke away from their little huddle in the middle of the den, nearing the awaiting owl.

"Ruddy bird," He swore lowly, rolling his eyes and tucking his wand away to open the latch of the window and let Errol inside, "it's a bloody wonder how you can still fly properly."

Fred shut the window right behind Errol, taking the small scrap of parchment from his talons before immediately pulling away when the bird went to nip at his fingers in retaliation to his words. Rebecca shuffled up to his side, peering around his shoulder to glance down at the tiny scroll that he was unraveling.

"Who's it from?" George questioned, noticing the way they both froze, their eyes trained to the parchment in the former's hands, "Fred?" At the continued silence, he pressed on, "what's the problem? What does it say?"

"It's from Mum," Fred answered, clearing his throat and tucking the scroll deep into his pocket, "there's something going on at The Burrow – and you, Lettie, and I are to stay here."

"What's happened?" Scarlett asked quickly, her eyes flashing with concern as they flickered between the opposite couple.

"She didn't say," Rebecca uttered, her gaze trained off distantly towards the window, watching Errol furrow up to rest; the corner of her bottom lip tucked nervously between her teeth, "she just said I was to come alone. Apparently both Remus and Sirius are already there as well."

"Like Hell you're going alone," George interjected, his eyebrows furrowing deeply before he was looking at Fred, "you are going with her, aren't you?"

"Of course I am." Fred defended with a slight scowl, obviously offended.

"You're not," Rebecca retorted, giving her boyfriend a firm look, "there's obviously a reason that none of you were told to come along – whether it'd be for your safety or not – no one is going but me."
