it locks all the doors and then hides all the keys,
wish someone had told me what I couldn't see,
a glimmer of hope that was staring at me ❞

SEVEN YEARS LATER
ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, just five minutes before the final bell would chime for the departure of a scarlet steam-engine – a family of six went rushing down the lanes towards the hidden platform nine and three quarters. Having had a start late to their morning; both due to waking up late, and with their mother not wanting the newest students to leave home for the very first time. It had made the family rather late in time, cueing the rush to meet up with the rest of their family that was most likely already standing with their own children and waiting to board the train.
"We're gonna be late!" Alya yelped out hastily, her initialed trunk jingling wildly as she ran and tugged it behind her, "and we're gonna miss the train!"
"You won't," Rebecca stifled a small laugh, quickly pulling her son closer to her side when he almost grazed his shoulder on a stone column, "trust me."
"Well, if Dad would just pick up Nova –"
"And risk getting kicked in the arm? Unlikely," Elio interrupted his sister, looking unimpressed, "she might only be three, but she'd be a star player on England's football team any day."
"But she walks so slooow –"
"Yeah but –"
"Yes, yes, your little sister takes after me," Their mother mused sarcastically, "horrifyingly stubborn and independent – but your father shouldn't have agreed to let her walk on her own in the first place."
Alya groaned again, quickening her own paces, "But he's also pushing the pram – meaning he's now going twice as slow –"
"Would you like Dad to run with the pram that has our baby brother inside it?" The younger half of the Weasley-Black twins questioned rhetorically as they finally ducked through the platform's entrance, "that's just a hospital visit waiting to happen."
"Have you both got everything you need?" Rebecca quickly put herself between the pending argument amongst the twins, switching the conversation easily, "I know we can send anything you've forgotten – but do you at least have most of it?"
"You made us pack everything twice," Alya deadpanned, peering up at her mum with faint amusement playing across her young features, "we definitely got everything, Mum."
"I'm here – I'm here," Fred finally bustled up, Nova hung grumpily over his hip and one hand pushing the black pram in front of himself, "just how much time do we still have?"
