UNSURPRISINGLY, IT TOOK hours just to get both Scarlett and everything else set up for a home-birth. It was already nearing 8pm, which wasn't too late, but in terms of having to go through the pains of labor – the former Hufflepuff was beyond ready to begin pushing the moment the contractions got to be less than five minutes apart. Like a good partner, George had stood at her side through it all, offering anything and everything he could think of that'd make her happy – having to unfortunately deny his pleading girlfriend proper food for some ice chips with her mum's guidance and knowledge.

Fred had left the Farney residence as soon as they received word from The Burrow around 4 o'clock, returning with Arthur, Bill, and Fleur all in tow and fresh from a long day at work. And, in a random turn of events – and quite possibly due to the heightening tensions and mood-swings midst all the pain – Rebecca had awkwardly taken the place of Molly Weasley at the opposite side of Scarlett's bed. Of course, she wasn't about to the expecting mother 'no', even if the older witch was practically melting in a heated anger as she ducked out of the room – she just allowed her hand to be gripped tightly, near the point of bruising before she began to murmur and coo encouraging words to Scarlett.

"Okay, deary," Scarlett's mum, Ciara, shuffled back slightly from ducking under the linens, grinning widely as she glanced between her and George, "you're ready now, by the next contraction you can start pushing."

"About damn time." Scarlett blurted out breathily, barely managing to flash a smile as another wave of pain washed over her bones and made her grit out a yelp.

"Did you want anybody else in the room?" Her mother questioned, tugging on a fresh set of gloves and wheeling the small bassinet to her side in preparation.

"Nope – let's get on with it," The brunette shook her head rapidly, clutching tightly onto George's hand before peering to her opposite side with watery eyes and up towards the weary-looking witch, "you'll stay, right?"

"As long as you want me to." Rebecca nodded, flashing a small, reassuring smile.

"I think..." Fred awkwardly averted his gaze from anywhere near Scarlett, quickly shuffling towards the door with his hand shielding his eyes, "I think I'll go wait with everyone else."

The four of them all watched him scurry from the room, blushing a bright red, and sharing an eye roll between themselves. Scarlett looked to her mother again, giving her a meek nod of consent and doing her best to brace herself. The process of labour had barely begun, and almost immediately, she was letting out yells of anguish and gritting her teeth. In between the periodic pushes mediated by her mum, a mere minute of rest and recuperation, she'd slump backwards into the mound of pillows – George standing dutifully and extremely focused at her side, wiping any sweat from her brow and offering gentle words of encouragement and praise.
