ROXANNE ROUX WEASLEY WAS officially a full year old on March 28th. It was a bit surreal, honestly. Just the prior year, while things were still unorthodox and out of control, it still hadn't reached the magnitude of what would be the following year. No one had been expecting to be stuck between Aunt Muriels and the Lupins' – though, now with knowing, anybody with a brain would've easily choose the latter – but it just wasn't in the cards they had thought to be dealt. Having to be apart from family, to have to experience a life separated from the ones you love most, all in the name of keeping safe – it just wasn't ideal. And it certainly wasn't a pleasant feeling either.
It was perhaps, the very reason that both George and Scarlett had agreed that, in the very least, they would celebrate their daughter's first year of life with their immediate family; and take as many photos as they possibly could, just to cement the small, happy memory into pictures that could be looked back on in the aftermath.
The morning of the young girl's birthday, both her parents had come to her bedside – the small, castle-shaped cot by their own bed – with a bundle of sparkly balloons and a wrapped gift in their hands. The baby, with extremely wide eyes in the same colour as her father's, let out a happy shriek, muttering incoherently and making a grab for the balloons in her mother's grasp.
"Good morning, Ro," Scarlett coo'd softly, smiling lovingly as she let the charmed balloons flutter by the bedside before scooping up her daughter to give her some cuddles, "happy birthday, my sweet."
"Mumma!" Roxy had beamed happily, snuggling in close before she caught sight of her father holding the cake in his hands, sat on the other side of the tiny bed – immediately catching the girl's attention, making her scramble out of her mum's arms and towards her dad, "yum!" She squeaked out, wide eyes glancing between her dad and the frosted cake.
George quickly swerved the cake out of the way of her grabby hands, chuckling and shaking his head, "not quite yet, little one," He tutted playfully, still allowing her to swipe a bit of the icing with a small wink when Scarlett turned, "we've got to go say 'good morning' to everybody downstairs, and then get you some proper breakfast."
In the hopes of getting to eat as many sweets and treats as she wanted, Roxy was quick to hold out her arms to her mother, intent on getting ready for the day. Scarlett happily changed her out from pajamas, the trio now stepping down the winding staircase of Aunt Muriel's home. Midst the floating paper lanterns and multi-coloured streamers in every corner of the house, stood just about everybody in the immediate Weasley family. Save for Percy, who hadn't been invited – for obvious reasons – Charlie, who couldn't risk his position with leading the resistance movement within Romania, and even Scarlett's mum, Ciara, had stood in the den and beamed at the appearance of the family of three.
