FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, getting well into the month of November, the secret members of the DA had all walked around the whole of Hogwarts almost as if they were invincible. They held the knowledge of their own rebellion against Umbridge and her faulty teachings and they stepped in hidden pride down each hallway of the Hogwarts' castle. The very thing the Ministry had feared the most, they were doing it right under unsuspecting noses and they felt immensely powerful because of it. More so, the co-teachers in charge of it all. Both Harry and Rebecca would simply sit and reminisce on the last few weeks, just holding back on smiling at the satisfying memories of their friends' accomplishments.
Neville Longbottom had successfully disarmed both Hermione and each of the Patil twins, young Colin Creevey mastered the Impediment Jinx after only three meetings, and both Parvati and Ginny had both produced such great Reductor Curses that they singed tables and accidentally broke a box of new Sneakoscopes. Additionally, it was nearing the evening of the next meeting when Hermione had devised a method of communication between all of the members. Each DA member had received a fake galleon, the numerals on the edges of the coin mocking real money, but relating to the time and date of the next DA meeting.
Then came the day of the first Quidditch match of the season. The morning arriving frozen, with hard frosts and icy drafts that nipped at any part of exposed skin. The skies and ceiling within the Great Hall turned a pale, smokey and pearly grey, the mountains far off in the distance, seen from the windows; snowcapped. For the entire week leading up to the match, Rebecca was sure she had never taken so many points away from Slytherin House. But with all their mocking, teasing, and jeering at Ron – she was beyond livid, but still, she bit her tongue and only took points away in increments of five.
"I must've been mental to do this," Ron blurted out suddenly from his hunched position at the breakfast table, his voice a croaky whisper, "absolutely mental."
"Don't be thick," Harry immediately frowned, passing his best friend an assortment in choice of cereals, "You're going to be just fine," he insisted firmly, "it's normal to be nervous."
"I'm rubbish," The ginger shook his head rapidly, shakily pouring himself some cereal, "I'm lousy and I can't play to save my life. What was I thinking?"
"Alright, listen here," The Ravenclaw Head Girl had been making her way up to the table, sitting immediately right next to Ron with a frown upon hearing his words in passing, "you are not lousy – don't you make that face at me," she flicked his nose as she scolded him lightly, "Ron, you're gonna do great. We all believe in you," at his look of indifference, she continued, "This is just the first match of many, and you'll show those stupid gits up by beating them with ease today. Okay?"
