HEARING HEDWIG SWOOP into her room by way of the opened window, Rebecca had quickly scrambled up from her bed, whispering Fred – who she had also startled awake – an apology as she clambered over his laying figure and bounded up to the snowy owl. Taking the small scrap of parchment, and quickly giving Hedwig a small scratch atop her white feathers and a small owl treat, she took to opening the message as soon as she could. She had sent what seemed like countless of letters to Harry over the weeks – and all of them, she tried to keep him as much in the loop as possible, sending him scraps of what she could put together. But he still hadn't replied to any. So to suddenly see Hedwig was both a nice and slightly weary surprise.
I've just been attacked by a hoard of dementors and now I might be expelled from Hogwarts. I want to know what's going on and when I'm going to get out of here.
With a sharp intake of breath, Rebecca shuffled around her room for a moment to rip a shred of paper from the pad on her desk, and snag a pen from the designated cup. Hedwig stuck to her bedpost, beady eyes watching each and every move. Bending over the parchment, Rebecca quickly scratched out a response that she hoped would keep Harry at bay, as well as try and soothe some of his fears while still keeping her promise not to speak of anything 'unspeakable' over what could be an easily intercepted letter.
stay at the house, you're protected both inside and out more than you know. and you're not going to be expelled without a proper trial, and we'll make sure you get one. don't go around fussing, and definitely don't try to run away like you did in third year, you're far safer staying exactly where you are, i'm sure you'll be here soon enough, don't worry.
With a slight grimace, wishing she could've said more, Rebecca still quickly folded up the note and handed it off to Hedwig. The owl gave the smallest hoot of what could've been thanks, giving an affectionate nip to her fingertips before taking flight and disappearing right out the window. She watched the spect of white distance itself further and further, barely being able to make out the fading wingspan before Hedwig vanished completely from sight.
"I'm assuming that was from Harry," Fred spoke up groggily, pushing himself up onto one elbow as his opposite hand rubbed at his squinted eyes, "what's happened?"
"Theres dementors roaming around Privet Drive – he's to be expelled from Hogwarts, pending a trial, most likely for the use of underage sorcery – most likely due to saving himself from said dementors." Rebecca let it all out a short breath, eyes still momentarily trained on the night sky before reluctantly turning away.
"Never a dull year around Harry, huh?" He mused lightly, shuffling around slightly before tugging back the grey duvet once more and gesturing her in.
