❝ a darkness that holds me,
and loves when I bleed,
it locks all the doors and then hides all the keys,
wish someone had told me what I couldn't see,
a glimmer of hope that was staring at me ❞

FATHER AND DAUGHTER both stood in an unbearable silence once again, amongst the filled room of various ancestral portraits, half of which that had been singed into nothing more than burned holes. Olive-green walls and moss-green curtains, thinly carpeted floors – all freshly cleaned of filth and dust and dirt, and smelling of citrus and if honest, a bit nauseating. With pursed lips, Rebecca stared expectingly at Sirius Black, watching silently as his mouth floundered and his eyes flickered nervously between her face, a singed portion of the wall, and then his feet. Letting out an incredulous breath, she let her arms unfold and drop back down to her sides before she was reaching up to pinch the bridge of her nose in annoyance.
"Look, Sirius, if you're not –"
"I was eighteen when you were born," Sirius blurted out hastily, a sharp breath escaping his lips as he moved right back to her face, "not even out of Hogwarts – just a stupid kid – and I hadn't even known for the longest time that you – that your mother was pregnant."
"It was – alright...you gotta –" He took another deep breath, running both his hands down his face; leaving them to linger over his mouth before dropping them back to his sides and pinching nervously at the seams of his trousers, "Remus and I – there was a time during and after our time in Hogwarts...when we both were....involved..."
"You dated," Rebecca supplied for him plainly, her fingers messing with the hem of her shirt absentmindedly, "you can just say you and Moony were a couple – I won't run for the hills."
"It was more than just dating," Sirius uttered slowly, "and I – you have to understand that I didn't...we didn't think that we even could...especially with the kind of people your grandparents were – and the discrimination against werewolves and then men dating men –"
"That's besides the point –" He shook his head quickly, "yes, Remus and I...we dated..for most of fourth year to seventh," He cleared his throat, shifting his gaze downward to his shoes, "then as usual, like a complete idiot – we fought over something so stupid and I wanted to – I –"
"What did you fight over?" She questioned shortly, her voice barely above a whisper.
"To this day, I don't even remember," He admitted meekly, a deep frown curling his features, "it was so stupid, so mundane – and yet it was enough to break us up –"
"And so you wanted to hurt him..?" Rebecca swallowed thickly, shutting her eyes momentarily as her chest sunk deeper, "what, you thought you'd even the score?"
