You gleefully strolled your way to the picnic blanket you had set. You held Raphael's warm hand in yours as you walked. It was never intimidating when you noticed how small your hand was in comparison to his. No. It was reasuring. It made you feel protected.

Raphael always made you feel safe. He was like a big teddy bear of a man. And the way he treated you... You were sure you were in heaven, because he was definitely an angel.

You had set up this picnic as a way to show your appreciation to Raphael for protecting you in your last battle together. You were a healer, and because of this the Professor usually kept you off the frontline. But this time you had no choice but to step into the line of fire.

One of your classmates, Lorenz, had gotten injured, and Marianne was too busy tending to Ignatz to focus on Lorenz. The thing was, you were usually kept as far away from the enemy as possible. Despite being quite delicate, Marianne could most definitely handle herself. As much as she insisted on denying it, Marianne was really strong.

You, on the other hand, were not as gifted with attack magic. You had dedicated yourself to learning all you could about healing and support magic. You didn't like to fight. Not because of laziness or a fear of failure. But because you hated hurting people. You were a gentle soul.

But Lorenz needed your help. Thankfully for him, you were one of the few people who could tolerate him. He could be difficult, but you were sure that his time at the Academy would help him learn and grow. But he couldn't learn and grow if he was dead.

You ran forth to heal him. Healing was an easy task when you'd done it so many times before. The hard part was concentrating. You couldn't multitask if you wanted to heal him effectively. But that meant you were completely open to any enemy attacks.

As luck would have it, a bandit ran up behind you with his sword raised. You didn't even notice.

You didn't notice until after the guy was knocked out on ground.

You looked at the bandit, and then back up at Raphael. He had that big warm smile you'd grown to love. You immediately felt safer.

"Don't worry, Y/N, I got your back."

After you arrived at the picnic blanket, you started to take out the dishes you'd cooked one by one.

"Oh, man! This smells so good!" Raphael exclaimed, hungrily staring at the food, "And you made this all for me?"

You closed your eyes with a smile and giggled, "Of course, silly. It's the least I could do after you saved me!"

Raphael sat down next to you and smiled as he said, "If I had to choose between saving you and never being able to eat meat again, I'd save you every time. But, uh, I'd rather save you and eat meat."

You laughed, and gestured for him to eat. He was so cute. Sometimes you felt like your heart would explode from all the cuteness.

You weren't planning on eating anything, but Raphael wasn't having it. As he ate, he kept pausing to feed you some stuff. After you kept refusing to eat on your own, you kinda left him no choice. You blushed and giggled as you both continued to enjoy your picnic.

Once you were done eating Raphael helped you pick up the picnic blanket and basket. You were about to set off towards the kitchens to return the plates you had taken, just when you spotted something high up in a nearby tree.

Your eyes lit up and you bounced with barely contain excitement.

"Oh! They're in season!" you said and ran off towards the tree before Raphael could ask what you meant.

You looked up at the tree branches and saw exactly what you were looking for; a meiloorun!  You hopped trying to reach the fruit, but it always evaded your finger tips.

However, this didn't deter you, as you kept reaching as high as you could in hopes of snatching the fruit. Suddenly, you were tall enough to reach and grab the fruit. Thanks to Raphael that is.

He had walked up behind you and lifted you on his shoulder so you could finally get what would have otherwise eluded you.

"Thank you, Raphie!" you giggled. And he started walking with you still on his shoulder, making you laugh again.

"It was no trouble! You're light as a feather and you seemed really happy about finding that, um, what is that?" said Raphael.

"It's a meiloorun!" You explained, showing it off excitedly, "They are really rare, but they make the best dessert!" You practically squealed with how happy you were.

Raphael chuckled, "You really love cooking and baking, huh?"

"Yup!" you answered giddily, "But not nearly as much as I love you!"

Raphael laughed and replied, "And I love you; way more than I love food!"

The sun was setting as you neared the kitchens. You couldn't have asked for a better day.
