A/N: This continues the story of "You'll do great".
Claude had been meeting with you once a week to help you study. You didn't want to bother him, but he had insisted. You were meeting with him again later, but right now you were in the Reception Hall, sitting at one of the tables and sketching to you heart's content.
You were so engrossed in your drawing that you didn't notice someone that someone had called out to you.
So they tried again, "Y/N?"
"Huh?" you answered ripping your gaze away from the paper in front of you. "Oh, hello, Your Highness."
Next to you stood Dimitri, house leader of the Blue Lions and Prince of Faerghus.
He smiled kindly at you. You thought it was a bit strange for a royal from the Kingdom to be friends with a street rat from the Alliance, but he didn't seem to think so. He spoke with you whenever you crossed paths. He seemed drawn to you. You wondered if it had anything to do with what he had said about your eyes.
You had been talking with him about your childhood. He seemed very interested in the differences in your upbringings. You had been talking for a while when he suddenly drifted off. Lost in thoughts.
"Your Highness?" That seemed to snap him out of it.
"Oh. Please forgive my rudeness. It's just... Your eyes remind me of someone... Someone I miss dearly."
He never told you who it was.
"Hey."
"Oh, I'm sorry." it seemed you both had a problem with spacing out.
Dimitri smiled and spoke again. "I was just wondering what you were drawing."
"Oh this? I'm just drawing my pendant." You pointed toward your necklace that sat in front of the paper.
His eyes widened slightly when he saw it, but he recomposed himself quickly. "I didn't know you were this talented."
You smiled sheepishly. "It's nothing much. I'm not as good as Bernie or Ignatz. I'm pretty much a complete amateur."
"Don't sell yourself short. Your drawing looks exactly like the real deal, with an added flare that makes it unique. "
You smiled, feeling your face burning up at the compliment.
"Say," he continued "Where did you get that locket?"
Oh, yeah, that's right. It wasn't just a pendant. It was a locket. You often forgot, because you had never been able to open it. It required a key and you didn't have it.
"My mother gave it to me. She told me it belonged to my father. But I couldn't tell you where he got it from. I never met the guy... My... My mother doesn't like talking about it, so I stopped asking." You smiled sadly and looked at the locket.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. I fear I have overstepped." Dimitri said, clearly feeling guilty.
"No, no!" You quickly corrected. "I really don't mind."
"Either way, it's probably best we change the subject."
You smiled up at him. "You've got a point."
He thought for a few seconds, before deciding what to say. "I've noticed you seem to go missing once a week. I have asked a few people, but none of them knew where you were."
"I've just been I'm the library. You see, Claude's been helping me with my studies and-- Oh, gosh, Claude!" You quickly started to gather your things in a small panic. "I'm late! Sorry to cut the talk short, Your Highness!" With that you sped off, not noticing what you had left behind.
