Continues the story of "Together, right?"
You strolled through the Monastery grounds leisurely while humming the newest tune you had come up with. The tune came from your heart and carried a sad type of strength.
You walked along the bridge towards the Cathedral. Unlike your sister, you never held any ill will towards the goddess. She may have created the Crests and passed them along, as you were taught, but that didn't mean she intended for all the injustices suffered throughout Fódlan to occur. She wasn't the one who hurt you; you had no cause to hate her.
However, you respected your sister's opinion, just as she respected yours, albeit a bit hesitantly. Of course El's hesitating did not compare in the slightest to Hubert's distrust. He often questioned your allegiance whenever he found out you were off to pray. El scolded him, of course, but that didn't stop him. He never threatened you, no he definitely wouldn't do that. Well, at least he wouldn't threaten you. You were an Adrestian Princess after all.
As you neared the Cathedral you saw a familiar ginger headed your way. You smiled at him warmly.
"Good Morning, Princess." he said once he was within speaking distance, "You look as lovely as ever."
"Thank you, Ferdinand." you answered. "But I thought I had told you there was no need for such formalities."
"On the contrary, Your Highness, to do anything less with be an insult to your grace."
Well, he seemed insistent on making you blush.
"You flatter me, but really, there's no need." you said with a sweet smile, "I'd much rather you speak to me as casually as you would a friend."
"But Princess, I--" You stopped him before he could continue.
"Please? I was incredibly lonely growing up, everyone always treating me like I was so different. I longed for friends for so long, so I'd much rather leave the noble talk to the nobles back home. Besides," you smiled mischievously, "I know for a fact that you are often less than, well, respectful towards my sister, why should I be any different?"
He was visibly flustered at that comment. "I would not say I don't respect Edelgard. I just--"
"Ha! You did it again just now!" You giggled, "While referring to me you'll always say 'Princess', 'Lady' or something of that sort. But you never use titles when talking to my sister. Am I really that much more inaccessible?" you teased.
"Of course not!" Ferdinand was quick to respond, "You are possibly the most delightful person I have ever met!"
You laughed again, "It was only a jest, Ferdinand. No cause for alarm."
"Oh." He rubbed the back of his neck, seeming a bit embarrassed. "But I really do enjoy chatting with you, Prin-- er, Y/N."
You smiled widely at his comment. "I enjoy chatting with you as well."
He smiled after having calmed down a bit, "No matter the time, know that I will always be happy to lend an ear."
As you were about to continue talking, you remember why is was you were headed towards the Cathedral in the first place, "Oh, I'll be late if I don't hurry!"
"Late?"
"There's a choir practice today, and I simply adore singing, so I really must be going." You didn't simply adore singing, you adored all music in general.
"Then allow me to accompany you," he said, "I was actually thinking of joining in myself. Shall we?" He extended his arm for you to hold on to and you happily did so.
You both joined in the choir practice with the other students and church goers that were there today.
Most people were very pleased to be there, while others... Were clearly only there because the Professor had made them.
Once the practice was over you and Ferdinand walked along the grounds together, with no particular destination in mind.
"I didn't know you were so talented Ferdinand." you complimented.
"Oh, it was nothing. Specifically when compared to you. Your voice is lovely, clearly fit for a Princess." He smiled at you and you were a bit too embarrassed to hold his gaze.
"Well, when I was younger I dreamed of being in the Opera. Singing, Acting, Dancing. When I was very little I used to put on shows for my siblings. Of course, they all found me incredibly annoying, but that didn't stop me. " You smiled softly at the bitter sweet memories.
"It seems we share a similar passion. I too love the Opera. The first time I held a sword was to recreate a sword dance I saw in one of the performances."
"Oh, you mean the one we're Manuela--" you started excitedly.
"--played the Princess!" Ferdinand finished with equal excitement.
"That was the first time I ever got to enjoy the Opera. I'm ashamed to admit it was also the only time... Other things in life got in the way. But, anyways, after witnessing that marvelous performance I was starstruck. I wanted to be just like that princess Manuela played." you said with childlike wonder. "Though I soon learned that dancing was not the most efficient way to win a battle." you finished, feeling quite sheepish.
"I completely memorized the sword dance and the song accompanying it. I could teach it to you if you want." Ferdinand said with a bright smile.
"Really? That would be great, Ferdinand. And then we could do the dance together and show Manuela!" For a moment you felt like a child again, no worries or pain, just happiness and fun.
"I would love to dance with you, my princess." Ferdinand said unabashedly.
You struggled to keep your cool and answered, "I'll look forward to it, my knight."
