This takes place after "Cheater"

.

It was late at night and you couldn't sleep. You were supposed to spar with Felix tomorrow, but with how sleep deprived you'd be you would end up knocked out before he could even strike.

This happened from time to time and whenever it did you always had the option of crawling into your brother's bed where you could feel safer.

Your brother always had your back. But things were different here.

That being said, you weren't sure if you cared right now.

So with that in mind you left your room as quietly as you could; careful not to alert the ever attentive Petra who slept next door.

You made your way to the second floor were the noble's rooms were. Once you reached your desired door, you knocked.

"Claude?" you called out. You heard the person inside shift, but there was no response.

"Claude." you called out a bit louder and this time you clearly heard that annoying snicker you were all too familiar with.

"Khalid!" you whispered as loud as you could. Before you could do anything else the door snapped open and you were pulled inside.

"Are you insane? What if someone heard you?" your brother berated.

You rolled your eyes, "Only crazy people are awake at this hour."

"You're awake at this hour."

"So are you." you replied with a smirk.

He sighed and looked at you knowingly, "You can't sleep?"

"Well, clearly. And here I thought you were the smart one in the family."

"I can still kick you out you know."

"Yup, but you won't."

Claude, or, as you had known him your entire life, Khalid, shook his head with a smile.

That night you fell asleep with your head on your brother's shoulder as he read you his, boring in your opinion, strategy book.

.

The next day you were more than well rested enough to put up a good fight, and that you did.

Until that little snake hit you with lightning.

He pointed his sword at your face with an insufferable smirk as you glared.

"You cheated!"

He drew back his sword and his face returned to normal, "In a real battle, all that matters is winning."

"Excuse me, then what exactly was all that about cheating last time?" you said, flabbergasted.

He looked away, "I... was reminded of something and got caught up in a memory. But that won't happen again."

You were curious what he meant, but something told you it was better not to ask.

You stood up and decided to change the subject, "Can you help me with something?"

"What?"

"Well there's this sword move that I can't get down and you're kinda the expert here."

Felix agreed to help you and demonstrated the move, which you failed at recreating a few times before he lost his patience.

"Your doing it wrong. Here."

With that, Felix put his hands over yours and adjusted your grip. You were too focused on learning to notice how close you both were.

But to be honest you weren't standing there for long enough to notice either. Almost instantly you were pulled away from Felix.

"Can I borrow my classmate for a moment? Thanks."

Your kidnapper was dragging you out of the Training Grounds when you asked what he was doing. He answered that he needed help with wyverns.

You founded a bit odd that your brother needed help with wyverns, but you accompanied him anyways.

Nothing struck you as suspicious at the moment, other than Khalid's smile contrasting sharply with his clearly unhappy eyes.
