Continues the story of "You were my best friend".

After your last "talk" with Sylvain you almost called off the engagement right there and then.

But the thought of your family suffering because they didn't have enough money to survive stopped you before you could.

You had held strong this long, and you were not going to give up.

For a week neither you nor Sylvain had spoken to each other, and you liked it better this way. If you didn't have to interact with him then you wouldn't be sad, and you were sick of waiting for him to change.

The Professor was currently talking with Annette about something and you took the chance to turn to your desk mate. Ashe was currently scribbling away in his notebook about what you had just learned about strategy today. You felt bad interrupting him, but you needed to get this off your chest or you would make the stare that was boring into you go away the hard way. And you felt it might be best not to throw books at people while still in class.

"Hey, Ashe?"

"Hmm?" He finished up what he was writing and turned to you. "Something the matter?" he asked upon seeing the uncomfortable expression on your face.

"How do you get someone to stop staring at you?"

He had a confused look on his face as he turned to look around, once he spotted what you were referring to his eyes widened in realization. "Has he been doing that all week?"

You shook your head, "No, just the past three days."

At the beginning of the week he seemed to be completely avoiding you in every sense of the word, but recently the had be staring at you with a sour look on his face whenever you were in the same room.

Who was he you ask? Well Sylvain of course.

You where extremely close to grabbing your lance and--

"I think you should talk to him." Ashe said, a bit hesitantly.

"I can't do that." you said shortly.

"Why not?"

"I'm sick of always being the one who tries to fix things." That, and you were too prideful to keep running around chasing him after what he had said.

"Do you want me to say something for you?" Ashe asked genuinely.

"You're so sweet, Ashe, but no. You don't need to get involved in this." Ashe was like the brother you never knew you needed.

At this moment the Professor spoke up. It was Saturday tomorrow and that meant that two people would have group work to do. Though you didn't expect what happened next.

You were so shocked you choked on your own saliva and started coughing. Ashe patted your back worriedly.

So tomorrow you and Sylvain were on stable duty. Great.

As much as you tried to convince the Professor it didn't work. Byleth seemed determined to get you and Sylvain to spend time together. What that was supposed to accomplish you couldn't say.

You got to the stables and were relieved to see no one else was there. You found a brush near some buckets, picked it up, an started brushing one of the horses.

You loved horses. If you had to go into battle, there was no better companion.

You moved around the horse so you could get started on it's other side and you tripped over a bucket someone hadn't put back in it's place.

You only fell back a bit when you landed in someone's arms. You didn't know who had left the bucket there, but you hated them so much right now.

"You should be more careful." said Sylvain, not looking you in the eyes.

You quickly got up and went back to work. You tried to get over your embarrassment when you felt a presence in front of you. You looked up to see Sylvain on the other side of the horse, brushing it.

Why he felt the need to brush the same horse as you, you couldn't say.

But you definitely didn't like it.

"What are you doing?" you asked annoyed.

"Brushing a horse." he answered and it took all your restraint to not throw the brush at him.

"Why are you brushing  this horse?" you said, noticeably angry.

"We'll be done faster if we work together." he said, still not looking at you. "Besides, that's the whole point of this group thing, right?"

You scowled, and kept working.

Just ignore him it will be done soon enough.

One horse done. On to the next.

Just ignore him. Don't do something you'll regret.

Another horse done.

Just keep calm and--

You felt someone beside you and you closed your eyes in annoyance.

That's it!

"What do you want, Sylvain?!" you asked incredibly angry at him.

"Nothing. I'm just--"

"Don't give me that! I know you. So I repeat. What. Do. You. Want!" He wouldn't be acting like this for no reason, you were sure of that. You just couldn't figure out what that reason was.

He didn't answer, but he stopped brushing the horse. He was making it incredibly obvious that he was trying not to look at you.

After a long while he spoke, "Nothing. Let's just finish this."

You were so angry; you wouldn't be surprised if your face was completely red.

You pointedly walked to a different horse, making it clear that he was not allowed to follow you.

As you angrily held back tears of frustration while brushing the horse, your mind drifted off to a time long gone.

"Hold on tight." said the young redheaded boy to the small girl sitting behind him on the horse.

"I changed my mind. I don't want to do this anymore." you said looking around for a way to get off the very tall horse.

He laughed and shook his head, "Nope, it's too late now."

You were sure he was only so relaxed, because Ingrid wasn't here to punch him if he didn't stop.

He led the horse so it would take a few short steps and the sudden unexpected movement made you hold onto him and bury your face in his back

You heard him laugh again and you suddenly realized what he was probably trying to accomplish, "You're only doing this so you could trick a girl into hugging you!"

"No way! Do you really think so little of me?"

"No. But I do think you're a--"

"Jerk!" you yelled as you felt water hit you from the side.

You look to see Sylvain holding a bucket, "Oops." he said, unfazed.

You threw your brush at him full force, hitting him on the shoulder.

"Ow! What was that for?"

"You, Sylvain Jose Gautier, wouldn't know manners even if they hit you in the face!"

"It was an accident." he said holding the bucket with one arm and his shoulder with the other. "Why are you two so violent..." he said under his breath, clearly referring to your sister and you.

You walked towards him and in one quick motion tipped the bucket onto him. He was too shocked to speak, but you weren't. "Oops." you said in your most sarcastic voice, "It was an accident."

You walked away leaving him alone to finish the task.

Let the professor take away points, you didn't really care.
