This takes place after "Your Kind Hand".

Trigger warning: violence (around the same level as Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. ) I can't specify more, for fear of spoiling the story, but I will mark the worst of it with: """"""""""" for when it starts

................... For when it ends

"Hey, El!"

"Oh, hi, N/N."

"Come dance with me!" the little girl with H/C hair said as she grabbed the young brunette's arm.

The younger girl stood her ground firmly, "No, no, no, no."

The slightly older girl was visibly saddened, but let go either way, "It's okay, El, you don't have too." she gave a sad smile.

El's face fell and she started feeling guilty, "Maybe, one of our other siblings would..." but she trailed off as she saw her sister shaking her head.

"They already said no." she shook her head again and tried her best to smile at her little sister, "Do not worry, it really is fine."

With that, she turned to walk away.

El acted without hesitation. She quickly grabbed her sister's hand before she got too far. "N/N. I will do it."

"Oh, El, you don't--"

"I want to! I- um- I just don't know how..." she didn't really want to dance, she just wanted to see her sister smile, and if dancing was the way to do that, she would, no question.

N/N perked up immediately, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet, "Oooh! I'll teach you! This will be so much fun! Thank you, El! Thank you!" she tackled her sister into a tight hug, making the other girl giggle. "You are the best!"

El laughed, hugging her sister back, "Okay, okay, but don't squeeze me to death."

N/N let go sheepishly, but quickly recomposed herself and got down to business.

N/N taught El a simple waltz. It didn't take long for the young girl to master it, she was naturally graceful.

After they had both perfected the steps, they decided to have more fun, making stuff up and spinning each other around as their laughs echoed through the halls of the otherwise dour palace.

You sat alone in front of the pond at Garreg Mach Monastery.

You, the kind, warm girl, that always had a smile to share, only frowned as you silently stared of into the distance.

In your eyes swam unimaginable paint and guilt. And you faced it alone.

Not a lot of people here trusted you, an you couldn't blame them. Annette and Mercedes had made an effort to include you in things, and you were grateful, but you could clearly see your presence was making the others uncomfortable.

So, here you sat. You were alone.

Well, mostly alone.

Ferdinand, despite the unease of others, refused to abandon you.

Without him, you probably would have come undone right there and then.

The pain was just too great, and you didn't want to bare it any longer.

You had betrayed your sister. Sure, it had been with the intention of saving her in the end, but El didn't know that. She must have been completely heartbroken.
