I knew that the party didn't start until seven that night, but it didn't make any sense why Y/N kicked me out of our room and pulled Mother and Sypha in with her. It was only four o'clock in the afternoon, for crying out loud, but Mother did say that women take a bit longer to get ready than men.

"Son," my father said as he pat my shoulder, "just let it go. Women can take forever to get ready when they're trying to impress others."

"I understand that, but they shouldn't have to impress us," I said petulantly. I knew I was throwing a tantrum of sorts, but Y/N wouldn't tell me what her costume was, my mother just snickered at me and walked away when I tried to get information from her and Sypha...dammit!

"I want to know what she chose!" I railed. "It is driving me insane to not have a clue!"

"Haven't you tried to look into her mind to find out a clue?" Belmont offered.

"Of course I have," I sighed. "She blocked me out. And before you ask, Mother blocked me as well."

"You could still be able to read Sypha, though," my father said confidently.

"I tried, but it gave me a headache trying to get through all the information she has stored in there. I couldn't even manage to find recent memories before I felt as though I'd pass out from pain."

"Speakers are full of knowledge, old and new," Father said. "I'm not really surprised that you couldn't make your way through it all."

"Why don't you try?" Belmont said. "You're far stronger than ol' Limp Dick over here, so you should have a better shot." If I weren't so upset I'd have punched that fucker a long time ago.

"No," was all he said.

"Why not?" Belmont asked.

"Because my wife said if I even tried she would find innumerable ways of punishing me for even attempting it. I refuse to be put through that torment just for a peek at an outfit."

"Fair enough," Belmont finally said. "A woman's wrath is something even I don't want to mess with."

I sighed. "I have to agree. I would rather face a horde of night creatures than have Y/N angry with me."

"I would rather have to sit in a room and listen to Godbrand bitch endlessly for eternity than have Lisa mad at me," Father said on a chuckle.

"I would rather have small children use my testicles like a punching bag than piss off Sypha. Believe me when I say it would be the lesser of two evils." Belmont said with a laugh.

"Then I want to change my answer," I said. "I would rather be stuck in a room with Y/N's family than have Y/N angry with me."

"Damn," Belmont said straight faced. "Y/N angry must be worse than anything for you then."

"It is," I admitted. "Remember how she was when I was off in my own little world instead of helping her out in the laboratory?"

Belmont visibly shivered. "Yeah. Ok, so you win on that one." We then turned to explain how things were at the time to my father who then started to chuckle.

"Seems to me you had problems recognizing your own mate at first." When I looked down at the floor he clapped his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't feel bad, son. When your mother came to my castle my first instinct was to kill her, but I found that even when I wanted to lunge at her and take that bite to end her life, my body refused to move. I was so dazed and confused about what had happened it took your mother three tries just to get my attention back to her speaking."
