The crowd of townspeople began to disperse in a cacophony of screams, their progression halted by the armor wrapped soldiers. Adrian sprang up from his crouched position and launched himself toward the soldiers to push them out of the way. I stood and began pushing soldiers in the opposite direction creating a pathway toward the building everyone had been gathering in. Sypha lead everyone toward the doors, pushed them open and ushered them inside while Trevor, Adrian and I began attacking the soldiers. Hector and Isaac worked together to hold back the night creatures so the people could make their escape while two men stopped to pickup the body of the boy who gave his life for everyone else and brought him into the building with everyone else.
I felt my body surge with a power I hadn't believed possible when I first came to this time. A power that threatened to overwhelm me.
"Slowly, my love," I heard Adrian's voice say. "Take it in slowly. Allow it to wrap you in it's warmth. Imagine it is my arms wrapping around you and take comfort in it. Remember that it is part of me that now lives in you, and it loves you and will protect you and fight for you just as I do. Don't fear it. Embrace it."
I slowed myself down and allowed the thrumming of my blood to flow through me, the steady beat of my heart matching that of Adrian's as the power I contained became stable. I took calming breaths, the power wrapping me in the warmth that Adrian spoke of, and smiled. Opening my eyes, I looked at the soldiers and they appeared to be frozen in time, their movements so slow and predictable that I used my movements to head them off before they could get anywhere near the townspeople while they made their escape.
I took a moment to look behind me to see Trevor rejoining the fray with a tiny bit of blood red liquid dribbling from the corner of his mouth. I smiled knowing he took a drink of Dracula's wine, his face practically glowing with anticipation of the battle before him. Sypha joined not to long after, her flames seeming brighter and hotter than before. As we took out the soldiers one by one, Carmilla growled, snarled and screeched with the losses.
"Kill them!" she hollered as she looked around at her night creatures. She thrashed and snarled as she watched soldiers and night creatures alike be slayed before her. Her own attempts at striking down people as they ran by were thwarted by Adrian, his swift movements and swordsmanship stopping her at every turn. Her shoulders hunched and her hair began flowing back from her head as if it were alive, the tendrils of it whipped into a frenzy around like Medusa's snakes, she lunged and swung at Adrian and drove him backwards.
Trevor attempted to come to his aid only to be stopped by one of her soldiers. Night creatures burst into flames around us as Sypha's magic flowed through her, her eyes alight with feral happiness, her teeth clenched tight and the wind whipping around her flapping her clothes and hair wildly.
"Be careful up there, Sypha!" Trevor shouted when he noticed a night creature diving toward her. Sypha turned to deal with it, but got knocked to the side by a soldier's staff, her body hitting hard and rolling along the ground. I was about to launch myself toward the soldier, but had my attention taken away by the soldier to ran toward me with his sword raised.

My shoulder felt as though it had popped out of socket when I finally stopped rolling, the pain radiating from it burned across my chest and wrapped around my back. The pain, however, didn't continue for very long. Moments after I'd stood up, all the pain simply left my body and left me feeling as if it hadn't even been there. The soldier that had hit me ran toward me with a pike, his voice ringing through the air with his battle yell, locked eyes with me. I was angry now. This man threatened the life of my unborn child, and I found that I was even more angry about that fact than anything else I'd ever encountered in my life.
Without taking another moment to think about it, I raised my hands to the sky, felt the heat from my fire magic flow through me to the tips of my fingers and shot a solid column of flame right at him. The scream that erupted from him brought a smile to my face, a smile I'm certain looked deranged to any one of my friends who took the time to gaze at me. But the pleasure of seeing the soldier stop dead in his tracks with his suit of armor melting all around his body, the sizzle of his flesh burning inside, was overwhelming. My child was nearly hurt by this man and he would find no comfort of a quick death from me.
"Are you alright?" I heard Trevor say when he reached my side, his eyes showing just how worried he was.
"I think so," I said honestly. "I'll have to have Y/N check me later, but I think we're fine." Trevor looked me over once more, his hands traveling over my shoulders, arms, stomach and finally grasping my hands in his, he kissed my knuckles quickly and uttered a 'stay safe' to me before turning back to the fray.
When I stole a glance at Carmilla, her form had nearly changed completely from the statuesque woman who walked into the town in triumph. Her height had nearly doubled, her face elongated with her jaw nearly touching her waist and her hair was streaked with blood. She was lunging toward Alucard and Y/N even as the two were holding her at bay, Isaac and Hector fighting to keep the night creatures away from the fight and Trevor's whip whistling through the air, bursting whatever it hit into flame. I was about to rejoin the fight when Carmilla let loose a screech that hurt our ears. Everyone before her was dropped to their knees, hands clasped over their abused ears and trying to shrink away from the grieving vampiress.
"You mean nothing to me, you vermin!" she shouted at Alucard and Y/N. "I will happily feast upon your blood and suck the marrow from your bones! Now DIE!"
"I think not, you bitch," a deep timbered voice called from behind me. I smirked in the knowledge of who it was and stood up straight. Trevor moved back to my side and pulled me away from the door as it creaked open slowly. Gasps could be heard from the soldiers that remained and growling whines from the night creatures who shrank back in reverence.
"Who dares to..." her surprise halting her words until her eyes lit upon the looming figure of Dracula, his footsteps silent as his large frame lurched toward her with purpose. "NO! YOU'RE DEAD!" Carmilla's voice began to crack and squeal in her denial, eyes widened in fear and body shrinking slowly back to it's original state at the person, or should I say people, who stepped out before her.
"Not anymore," Dracula hissed. His eyes began to glow a vicious shade of red when he addressed her, and Lisa's lips turned up slowly as a deadly smile grew across her face.
